00:01:28 Colleen

Way, let's get into it.

00:01:31 Seth

Little girlfriend.

00:01:33

What up what up what up?

00:01:34 Seth

All right, back in the seat.

00:01:36 Seth

Back in the booth.

00:01:36 Seth

Another podcast we we in the biz ooze yeah.

00:01:37 Colleen

Back in the booth we in the move can you move?

00:01:43 Seth

All right cool.

00:01:44 Seth

So talk about some superstitions, huh?

00:01:46 Colleen

Indeed, indeed.

00:01:47 Seth

All right?

00:01:48 Colleen

Bam bam bam bam bam bam bam.

00:01:52 Seth

Very superstitious.

00:01:56 Colleen

I want to know how superstitious do you think you are.

00:02:00 Seth

Alright, I took a little stupid little bit.

00:02:02 Colleen

I know I always gotta throw the dumb ask quizzes.

00:02:03 Seth

Yeah, I know.

00:02:04 Seth

He's damn quizzes all right.

00:02:06 Seth

So I took the little questions and if you guys want to know this awful BuzzFeed, they always had this little crazy little quizzes.

00:02:12 Seth

They probably find their information somehow, and that's how they send you emails.

00:02:17 Seth

But anyway, so after all of the questions I answered, it was like 5, so it's not a lot.

00:02:24 Seth

You're not superstitious at all.

00:02:26 Colleen

Oh my God, really.

00:02:27 Seth

You want one.

00:02:28 Seth

I can read it.

00:02:28 Colleen

I'm surprised to hear that.

00:02:31 Seth

I'll read what it says you already knew this about yourself, but you just wanted to take this quiz to see if there was anything extra cookie out there lately.

00:02:39 Seth

So Congrats, you don't believe in any of this hocus pocus and you're proud of it.

00:02:44 Seth

That this knows me.

00:02:46 Colleen

It's like it.

00:02:46 Seth

It really knows me.

00:02:48 Seth

Really good, all right, so I know you took the quiz too so alright, so what's your answer?

00:02:50 Colleen

What I did, I did, my results were.

00:02:55 Colleen

You're the most superstitious person we know.

00:02:59 Seth

Paranoid bit.

00:03:00 Colleen

You're an extremely superstitious person.

00:03:03 Colleen

You believe there's no such thing as a coincidence because destiny always has a hand in everything.

00:03:09 Colleen

That's why you're always hyper aware of the signals that the universe might be sending you, whether it's in the form of a four leaf Clover or a broken mirror.

00:03:16 Seth

Oh boy.

00:03:17 Colleen

I feel like.

00:03:18 Colleen

Saying I'm the most superstitious person ever is.

00:03:21 Colleen

A little a little much.

00:03:23

Well, but I.

00:03:25 Seth

Don't think it's that far off, but anyway.

00:03:27 Seth

You always got your.

00:03:28 Colleen

Well I would.

00:03:29 Colleen

Say that you're.

00:03:29 Seth

Little rocks and ****.

00:03:30 Seth

You got your little rocks and your little talismans and all that ****.

00:03:30 Colleen

Thank you.

00:03:33 Seth

And you believe in all this you are.

00:03:35 Colleen

Well, you you believe in a lot of stuff too and you get all freaked out.

00:03:39 Colleen

And the fact.

00:03:40 Colleen

That that thing said that you were not superstitious at all.

00:03:43 Colleen

I there's a flaw in this.

00:03:45 Seth

Alright, well we're going to find, well, we're going to source this out because we got some things that we can.

00:03:46 Colleen

Somethings wrong.

00:03:49 Seth

Discuss in this.

00:03:50 Seth

Episode here, so I'm looking forward to this.

00:03:50 Colleen

Good good idea, good idea.

00:03:53 Seth

I'm going to close this window out 'cause this thing annoys me.

00:03:55 Colleen

OK, OK so I want to know like what comes in mind when you just think of superstitions.

00:04:00 Colleen

Because maybe we're thinking about different things.

00:04:02 Seth

I don't know.

00:04:03 Seth

I think of a lot of things because just like you said, even though it says I'm not superstitious, I am.

00:04:09 Seth

I believe in certain things, but probably just 'cause it's fun.

00:04:12 Seth

So when you think superstition, I think something in your hand something lucky.

00:04:17 Seth

Or something that you do.

00:04:18 Seth

Or ritual that you do every single time or things that you want to.

00:04:23 Seth

Avoid blah blah blah.

00:04:25 Seth

I mean, it kind of holds all those buckets in my opinion, just depending on the context, right?

00:04:31 Colleen

Yeah no, I agree with that.

00:04:32 Colleen

And I mean I think a lot of supernatural stuff as well.

00:04:35 Colleen

That's why the fact that it said that you were not at all.

00:04:38 Seth

I'm a little surprised you see that's what I'm saying.

00:04:40 Seth

So if you put it in the context of supernatural.

00:04:43 Colleen

Yeah, so that's hard.

00:04:46 Seth

Right, I'm hiding in there right?

00:04:48 Seth

But when it comes to some other things, yeah, not so much.

00:04:50 Seth

It just makes you just feel good like you know.

00:04:52 Seth

So for example.

00:04:54 Seth

Let's say that, oh, I have my lucky blah blah blah.

00:04:57 Seth

I've watched so much football and lost and my team has lost so many times.

00:04:59 Colleen

Right?

00:05:01 Colleen

Huh, I know I.

00:05:01 Seth

I know that **** don't work, but it's great when it does.

00:05:05 Seth

That's the best example.

00:05:06 Seth

I can really give you.

00:05:06 Colleen

That's funny, I used to think that like every time I watched, that's when my team would lose.

00:05:11 Colleen

So I would just stop watching the game and then they.

00:05:14 Seth

Right exactly exactly so, it just depends on what it is.

00:05:17 Seth

So according to that survey, I'm not superstitious because it put it in.

00:05:20 Seth

A different context.

00:05:21 Colleen

OK, well then I would say that both of us are in the.

00:05:22 Seth

But actually

00:05:23 Colleen

Middle of the road, then let's.

00:05:24 Seth

Yeah yeah, I'm OK with that.

00:05:24 Colleen

Just go that let's.

00:05:25 Colleen

Go that route all right.

00:05:27 Seth

I'm OK with that.

00:05:28 Colleen

Well, let's move on to the.

00:05:28 Seth

Alright, so.

00:05:29 Colleen

Next bit here, let's talk about some actual definitions of what it is.

00:05:33 Seth

All right, well, this is where I shine, yes.

00:05:36 Colleen

Your shining star.

00:05:37 Seth

If I do anything right in this podcast, it's the one thing I know how to read the damn definitions.

00:05:44 Seth

All right guys.

00:05:45 Seth

So you guys don't have to look this up.

00:05:46 Seth

This is the Merriam-webster definition of superstition.

00:05:51 Seth

It's the best one that I found.

00:05:52 Seth

There's a lot of other sources out there, but this is the one that I think hits all the marks.

00:05:57 Colleen

OK.

00:05:58 Seth

A brief, did I say the one thing I can do right and I got I get it.

00:06:02 Seth

Oh my God all right, all right guys, thanks for listening to this podcast.

00:06:06 Seth

We're pretty much done here. TuneIn for confession corner, just start out here. All right. So definition of superstition from Merriam Webster.

00:06:16 Seth

A belief or practice resulting from ignorance.

00:06:19 Seth

Fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation, OK?

00:06:26 Colleen

I like that I like that.

00:06:28 Seth

That sums it up.

00:06:29 Seth

I read the other ones.

00:06:30 Seth

Of and I was like, yeah, this one is the best one because this hits the stuff that we were talking about, right?

00:06:37 Seth

The stuff that trusted magic or chance.

00:06:40 Seth

OK, I don't believe in magic, but I believe in chance you know or or false conception of causation.

00:06:46 Seth

Meaning that OK, I wear my Joe Flacco jersey.

00:06:50 Seth

Every game, knowing that he's gonna kick it, but then he still misses.

00:06:54 Seth

You know I'm saying so.

00:06:54 Colleen

Right, right?

00:06:56 Colleen

Right?

00:06:56 Seth

Same thing.

00:06:57 Colleen

Well, adding on to what you say what you are saying is I think that it's also and this is coming from another source.

00:07:03 Colleen

It's commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck, amulets, astrology, fortune, telling spirits, and certain paranormal entities, particularly the belief that future events can be foretold by specific.

00:07:17 Colleen

An apparently unrelated prior event.

00:07:20 Seth

OK.

00:07:20 Colleen

So I think between both of those it really does encompass the whole thing, yeah?

00:07:24 Seth

And that's from Wikipedia.

00:07:27 Colleen

Right?

00:07:27 Colleen

And the most reliable.

00:07:29 Seth

Yeah, they're very reliable, but that actually sums it up pretty good too, because some of the other ones I saw were kind of wacked.

00:07:29 Colleen

Right?

00:07:33 Seth

So Yep, these are perfect and this will go into a lot of the stuff that we're.

00:07:37 Seth

Talking about today so.

00:07:39 Colleen

Yeah, yeah, 'cause some people actually consider superstitious stuff to be magical thinking.

00:07:45 Colleen

So with the whole thing that we just kind of went over with magic.

00:07:48 Colleen

I mean I don't know, it's interesting.

00:07:49 Seth

Do you believe in magic?

00:07:55 Seth

Every time I think about it.

00:07:56 Colleen

Never believe it's not so it's magic.

00:08:01 Seth

I can't think of anything funny.

00:08:01 Colleen

You know?

00:08:02 Seth

I can't think maybe there Magic song.

00:08:04 Colleen

I'm sure there's a.

00:08:05 Seth

Million back to the superstitions alright, so why do people have these superstitions?

00:08:11 Seth

In your opinion, I want you to kind of lead this one because I think that you get cerebral when it comes to some of this stuff.

00:08:17 Seth

I know this is kind of your thing.

00:08:18 Colleen

I did.

00:08:19 Seth

You're our resident witch, so let's start with this so.

00:08:23 Colleen

I think that it's people wanting more control or certainty.

00:08:28 Colleen

That's the driving force behind most superstitious practices or beliefs, because we tend to look for some kind of rule or an explanation of why things are happening to us.

00:08:37 Colleen

And when we see patterns or signs that confirm.

00:08:41 Colleen

A belief that we're carrying that's that kind of just brings it all together.

00:08:46 Colleen

You know.

00:08:46 Colleen

I mean like if we have a belief, superstitious belief and then we see something a sign or something happens and that just confirms it.

00:08:46 Seth

OK.

00:08:53 Colleen

Or that just like backs up our belief system, then that just kind of.

00:08:57 Colleen

Runs that superstition even further into our psyche and makes us like it roots it in deeper meanings.

00:09:03 Seth

Sense, yeah it does.

00:09:04 Seth

This kind of reminds you of something that's completely off topic.

00:09:08 Seth

I'm not going to get into it, but when I think it's like when you have the conspiracy theorists, it's not superstition.

00:09:12 Seth

So people that believe in some kind of conspiracy and it's like they get one little tiny grain of truth and all of a sudden, that's the whole truth.

00:09:14 Colleen

No, I know exactly.

00:09:16 Colleen

Where you're going with this, yes.

00:09:21 Seth

But anyway, that's what.

00:09:23 Seth

Kind of reminds me of this.

00:09:24 Colleen

Exactly, exactly?

00:09:25 Colleen

No, that's that's a great point, yeah, and you know, there's just.

00:09:28 Colleen

You got to think all these other things like placebo effect, nocebo effect, right?

00:09:32 Colleen

So if they?

00:09:32 Seth

OK.

00:09:32 Colleen

There's if you think placebo effect.

00:09:35 Colleen

It's a positive thing.

00:09:36 Colleen

So if you think something will help you, it might just do that.

00:09:39 Colleen

And if.

00:09:40 Colleen

It's you think something will harm you.

00:09:42 Colleen

It might just do that.

00:09:43 Colleen

So there's a tremendous amount of power in the things that we believe.

00:09:47 Colleen

So if you believe that carrying around that rock is going to help you.

00:09:53 Colleen

Then it might because we believe we we have these these thoughts that give us positive thinking, right?

00:09:59 Colleen

But if you like lose the rock and you're like oh, shoot.

00:09:59 Seth

OK.

00:10:02 Colleen

And then you just have this horrible, no good, very bad day.

00:10:05 Colleen

Then you're going to blame.

00:10:06 Colleen

It on the rock.

00:10:07 Colleen

OK, makes sense.

00:10:09 Seth

Yeah, yeah it does.

00:10:10 Seth

I never heard of this term, the nocebo effect.

00:10:12 Colleen

Yeah, yeah.

00:10:13 Seth

So that's the adverse of the.

00:10:16 Colleen

No, yes, right?

00:10:17 Seth

It's the inverse.

00:10:19 Colleen

So in for I'll just tell you real quick in medicine with a nocebo effect.

00:10:22 Colleen

It's when like a doctor would say you have two months to live and then that person actually does deteriorate faster.

00:10:29 Colleen

So it's the whole negative thinking like when someone tells you something negative and you believe that negative.

00:10:37 Colleen

There's a tendency to have a negative outcome, and again, This is why I'm saying there's a tremendous amount of power.

00:10:42 Colleen

In belief.

00:10:44 Colleen

In our thinking, right?

00:10:46 Seth

Right, right, right OK.

00:10:47 Colleen

Yeah, yeah, so there's other.

00:10:48 Seth

What's another one?

00:10:49 Colleen

OK, so false calls bias.

00:10:53 Colleen

That's when two events occur in succession.

00:10:56 Colleen

So and we think that like one event causes the other, so you're walking down the.

00:11:01 Colleen

Street a black cat crosses you and then you trip and fall.

00:11:05 Colleen

Did the black cat actually cause it or was it just that you're distracted?

00:11:06 Seth

OK.

00:11:10 Colleen

Or I mean like.

00:11:10 Colleen

So we we have these things again, it's all like this need for explanation, right?

00:11:14 Colleen

Like why did I follow?

00:11:15 Colleen

I saw the black cat.

00:11:16 Colleen

It's gotta be that.

00:11:17 Colleen

So that's that's like a false cause bias.

00:11:21 Seth

I'm thinking of all these things that are completely unrelated to this damn ****.

00:11:25 Seth

I'm thinking like OK false cause bias would be like.

00:11:25 Colleen

OK.

00:11:30 Seth

Yeah, this can go into a lot of things.

00:11:33 Seth

I know we're going through the superstitions, but you know how people have that saying everything happens for a reason.

00:11:39 Seth

That's nothing to do with superstition, it's just it's the OK.

00:11:43 Seth

Well, this happens.

00:11:44 Seth

Well, this probably happened because of X.

00:11:47 Seth

You know what I'm saying?

00:11:48 Colleen

Yeah, well no, that goes back to the need for explanation, right?

00:11:51 Seth

Yeah yeah, yeah.

00:11:51 Colleen

And when we because we as humans, we have to make everything make sense.

00:11:57 Colleen

So no matter what it is we.

00:11:58 Colleen

Just I, I mean not, maybe not.

00:12:00 Colleen

All of us, but the majority of us.

00:12:03 Colleen

Need to have some kind of understanding as to why things are happening.

00:12:06 Colleen

Whether it be good or bad so.

00:12:08 Seth

Yeah, see this fill in the gaps your your mind is fills in the gaps.

00:12:10 Colleen

Exactly exactly exactly.

00:12:12 Colleen

So if something bad happens, so here's another example.

00:12:16 Colleen

Say, say you're going to work and you're walking, and you pass someone who's like asking for money and you just ignore them or you blow them off and they are just like, well, screw you.

00:12:26 Colleen

You know what I mean and then you have a horrible day.

00:12:26 Colleen

Right?

00:12:29 Colleen

Something bad happens.

00:12:30 Colleen

You you go home and.

00:12:31 Colleen

You're like, why did this happen?

00:12:33 Colleen

To me it must have been because I didn't give that guy a dollar.

00:12:37 Colleen

You know what I mean?

00:12:37 Seth

OK.

00:12:38 Colleen

So then the next.

00:12:39 Colleen

Day you you try.

00:12:40 Colleen

To go back and reverse the.

00:12:41 Colleen

Curse, so to speak.

00:12:42 Colleen

You know, I mean, so there's always like.

00:12:43 Colleen

This need to explain in in A and whatever, but that also ties into that need for control, because when we have some semblance.

00:12:51 Colleen

Of control it just is.

00:12:53 Colleen

Relates directly to.

00:12:54 Colleen

Do we feel powerful or powerless in in the things that we do and when we have some semblance of control, it just makes us feel a little bit better, even though we're never in full control ever of anything.

00:12:58 Seth

OK.

00:13:03 Seth

OK.

00:13:06 Seth

So using that example that you used, right, we're just like OK, I had a terrible day.

00:13:12 Seth

Probably I didn't get this bum money.

00:13:14 Seth

If people put those in a different context.

00:13:17 Seth

In your opinion, is this beneficial?

00:13:20 Seth

Is a lot of stuff like irrational?

00:13:23 Seth

I mean can this cause a problem?

00:13:25 Seth

What are your thoughts on that?

00:13:25 Colleen

Yeah, all of it I.

00:13:27 Seth

Well short answer for me is yes.

00:13:28 Colleen

Think all of the above, yes.

00:13:29 Seth

I think it totally can short answer I I just want to know what you think about it.

00:13:32 Colleen

Yeah, I think all of the above, absolutely it can be beneficial.

00:13:36 Colleen

Like I said.

00:13:36 Colleen

Earlier, if you have positive thinking and it does cause positive outcomes because you feel more in control or you feel more calm or whatever, those are beneficial things, right?

00:13:48 Colleen

But if it turns into something that's.

00:13:50 Colleen

Causing anxiety or obsessive compulsive behaviors or things like that then it's going to be problematic, but there is a huge element of irrational thinking in these things too.

00:14:02 Colleen

But I think a lot of these things have become so ingrained into our cultures and into just everything.

00:14:09 Colleen

I mean, we think back to our whole lives.

00:14:11 Colleen

We've been doing random superstitious things forever.

00:14:17 Colleen

So I mean.

00:14:20 Seth

Yeah, totally, I think it can be beneficial even going back to your crazy example about.

00:14:26 Seth

OK, I had a terrible day 'cause I didn't get this bone money.

00:14:28 Seth

But you know what that could be flipping to a good thing like, OK, well this happened bad so you know I'm going to do if I put that good energy out there, that's a lot of people.

00:14:38 Seth

Say right put the good energy out there, then you're going to get something back and I guess that's kind of in it's kind of in a superstitious way.

00:14:44 Seth

I know I'm kind of going.

00:14:44 Seth

Off topic here, but it's all in the same vein though right?

00:14:48 Colleen

No, it absolutely absolutely is.

00:14:48 Seth

It's all in the same.

00:14:50 Colleen

In the same vein.

00:14:51 Colleen

And another thing people do is they they try to use these things to protect their own ego.

00:14:55 Colleen

I think this is really important too.

00:14:57 Colleen

It's really interesting they're using these things to protect their ego because we don't want to anything that happens to us.

00:15:04 Colleen

That's bad.

00:15:05 Colleen

We as people typically don't want to blame.

00:15:07 Colleen

Ourselves for it right?

00:15:08 Colleen

So if something good happens.

00:15:10 Colleen

Oh yeah, we did it I.

00:15:11 Colleen

Did it all myself it.

00:15:12 Colleen

Was me da da da.

00:15:14 Colleen

But if something bad happens, we're like real quick to find something else to place it on.

00:15:18 Colleen

So that's another way that people have adopted various superstitious beliefs to just kind of protect their own ego that makes sense.

00:15:25 Seth

There you go.

00:15:26 Seth

Yeah no it does.

00:15:27 Seth

I mean look it's it's nothing but a false belief.

00:15:30 Seth

Honestly, that's all it really is.

00:15:30 Seth

Right?

00:15:31 Seth

It's just a false belief, you know.

00:15:33 Seth

It is you.

00:15:34 Seth

You put your actions or reactions to certain things into some made-up belief, and sometimes it has physical forms like a Talisman.

00:15:45 Seth

Or if I have my lucky socks or, well, you know you try to make this stuff happen and at the end a it's just a false belief, but a lot of it is fun.

00:15:54 Seth

But some people take it way out of context, you know, and there's.

00:15:59 Seth

A lot of things that this goes back and like so far just like you already said, right?

00:16:03 Seth

So there has to be some kind of roots.

00:16:04 Seth

I mean, you're our resident, which so I I think that there's there's some Pagan.

00:16:09 Seth

There has to be some paganism or something behind here like.

00:16:12 Colleen

Oh yeah, I'm sure.

00:16:13 Colleen

Yeah, I'm sure in some of them, but I.

00:16:14 Colleen

Think that you.

00:16:15 Colleen

And I both originally thought that like all superstitions, had like Pagan roots or whatever.

00:16:22 Colleen

Yeah, and from some of the stuff I've been reading up on, they absolutely don't.

00:16:26 Colleen

There is some true history to a lot of them.

00:16:29 Seth

OK.

00:16:30 Colleen

But that was just kind of interesting because I I think that initially we were just thinking all magic, all Pagan, all witchery and sorcery, you know.

00:16:38 Colleen

But it's it's not.

00:16:40 Seth

Totally, that's what I was thinking too, and that's why I went so quote UN quote off topic when it comes to all this because it's not just about magic and all this, it's all like, OK. Well, it's a lot of other things that are encompassing the whole thing and.

00:16:52 Seth

Of course we were a lot more stupid of.

00:16:56 Seth

Species back in the day.

00:16:57 Seth

So the only thing that you can really think.

00:16:59 Seth

Of is like sorcery sorcery.

00:17:00 Colleen

So sorry.

00:17:01 Colleen

Yeah, exactly exactly exactly.

00:17:04 Seth

Because there's nothing that can really explain it.

00:17:06 Seth

This is way before certain kinds of science was, you know, found let's just say that science has always been there, but it just found out it's like, oh I'm gonna answer for this so you know what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna.

00:17:12 Seth

Right?

00:17:17 Seth

Say it's witchcraft exactly.

00:17:20 Colleen

Exactly, and now we know better these days, so I would say that it's all psyche.

00:17:25 Colleen

You know?

00:17:26 Seth

True true true.

00:17:26 Colleen

That's just what it all comes down to is just a psychological stuff that we carry around with us to explain everything and to help us feel in control.

00:17:35 Colleen

And that's really.

00:17:35 Colleen

It in a nutshell.

00:17:37 Seth

Yeah, well I want to go back.

00:17:39 Seth

Let's let's take a trip.

00:17:39 Colleen

Let's go back picture it.

00:17:40 Colleen

Thank you.

00:17:42 Seth

Picture this.

00:17:43 Seth

So silly.

00:17:46 Seth

Shout out to The Golden Girls man shout out all right so let's go back alright so let's go back.

00:17:47 Colleen

I know.

00:17:51 Seth

To this please.

00:17:51 Seth

'cause that's what we're talking about, right?

00:17:52 Seth

I'm saying that we were a stupid race back then.

00:17:55 Seth

We were.

00:17:56 Seth

Let's go back and see where some of these things that listeners would know and that mean you would also know to like the common stuff chair out there like what was out there and where those actually come from.

00:18:07 Colleen

Something that I think of is when somebody sneezes we always say God bless you and we say it without even thinking right?

00:18:15 Seth

OK OK OK.

00:18:16 Colleen

It's just very.

00:18:18 Colleen

Common practice and we might not even.

00:18:20 Colleen

Think about where did this come from or why do I do this?

00:18:22 Colleen

This is actually a very superstitious practice, right?

00:18:26 Seth

Alright, I want to know this because I don't say that even though I probably have said it over 1000 times in my life.

00:18:35 Seth

I mean, let's just be honest.

00:18:35 Colleen

And what are you talking about?

00:18:36 Seth

And not and don't say it everyday if.

00:18:37 Seth

Someone sneezes, I don't go.

00:18:38 Seth

I don't go blazio blast Shields.

00:18:40 Seth

I think it's ridiculous because if you.

00:18:41 Seth

Have a sneezing fit.

00:18:43 Seth

I'm getting blessed by like 1,000,000.

00:18:46 Colleen

That's good, nothing wrong.

00:18:47 Seth

Bless you bless you.

00:18:48

With that

00:18:48 Seth

OK, so tell us what the hell is.

00:18:50 Colleen

If you had a sneezing fit and sneezed five times, I would count when you were sneezing.

00:18:50 Seth

All this **** come from.

00:18:53 Colleen

Then I would be like bless you five times.

00:18:55 Colleen

I would say that.

00:18:57 Colleen

I know I also say bless if I sneeze and I'm alone, I'm.

00:18:57 Seth

Alright, you're not cool.

00:18:59 Seth

You're not coming over my house.

00:19:01 Colleen

Like ah, bless you.

00:19:02 Colleen

Like I say, I say to myself too.

00:19:04 Colleen

That's what I'm saying.

00:19:04 Colleen

It's just so ingrained into the like the thumb so ingrained into this behavior that we practice so.

00:19:12 Seth

All right, so take us back.

00:19:14 Seth

Where does this come from, please?

00:19:16 Colleen

OK, so.

00:19:16 Seth

'cause I'm I'm laughing here.

00:19:18 Colleen

In most English speaking countries, it's polite to respond to another person.

00:19:23 Colleen

Sneeze by saying God bless you, but other incantations of good luck have been accompanying have been accompanying sneezes across all sorts of different cultures for thousands of years, and they're all.

00:19:24 Seth

OK.

00:19:32 Seth

OK.

00:19:36 Colleen

All really, really like largely tide into the belief that sneezes expel evil spirits.

00:19:42 Seth

OK, I'm listening.

00:19:44 Colleen

So our particular custom of just saying God bless you began in the 6th century AD by explicit order of Pope Gregory the Great. So it was it was made a law.

00:19:55 Colleen

Like you must bless people.

00:19:57 Colleen

When they write, say.

00:19:58 Colleen

Bless you and also at the time when this happened.

00:20:01 Colleen

I know there was a there was a pestilence pestilence at the time.

00:20:05 Colleen

Terrible pestilence and was spreading through Italy, so the first symptom was severe.

00:20:09 Colleen

Chronic sneezing also very quickly followed by death, so that's another reason because again back then nobody knew science germs.

00:20:10 Seth

OK.

00:20:15 Seth

OK.

00:20:18 Colleen

None of that.

00:20:19 Colleen

Nobody knew any of that, so somebody started sneezing and they were tying it.

00:20:23 Colleen

Back to evil.

00:20:23 Colleen

Spirits and then someone dying right after they start sneezing.

00:20:25 Seth

OK.

00:20:27 Colleen

Everybody like.

00:20:28 Colleen

Bless this person blessed this person so.

00:20:32 Seth

Kind of sound.

00:20:33

Bless you.

00:20:33

Right?

00:20:34 Seth

This kind of sounds familiar.

00:20:39 Seth

'cause if I hear sneezing right now I'm like, oh Lord.

00:20:41

I know.

00:20:43

I get real tight.

00:20:45 Colleen

Because it's like.

00:20:45 Seth

That one should.

00:20:48 Colleen

You can see the sports.

00:20:49

Yes, I know it's everywhere.

00:20:52

Look at it.

00:20:53 Colleen

Look at it, look at it.

00:20:54 Colleen

Look at it.

00:20:55 Seth

Oh my God, have you seen someone sneeze where they're standing in front of a sunny window or something and they sneeze and can see all the spores going?

00:20:58 Colleen

I can't.

00:21:02 Seth

Everywhere who.

00:21:03 Colleen

Just like.

00:21:04 Colleen

When they put the pictures of the slow motion sneezing.

00:21:07 Colleen

Oh my God, no, no, thank you.

00:21:08 Seth

Oh man, that's that really makes me anxious.

00:21:14 Colleen

To put it mildly.

00:21:15 Seth

Yeah, exactly.

00:21:15 Colleen

This simply makes me anxious.

00:21:17 Seth

I start throwing holy water.

00:21:20 Seth

I denounce you.

00:21:23 Colleen

Back seat and back.

00:21:25 Seth

Back back mask on mask.

00:21:30 Seth

Slap them with the.

00:21:31 Seth

Mask and shift.

00:21:33 Colleen

Yes, yes.

00:21:34 Seth

OK, so that's where it comes from now.

00:21:36 Seth

Right?

00:21:36 Seth

Are you talking about the the pestilence you're talking about?

00:21:38 Seth

Like the Black Death or does something else that happened back in because people were getting killed all?

00:21:41 Colleen

It doesn't, yeah, I'm not sure exactly which one it was, but something but what I also found that's interesting is that the same Pope at the same time, recommended that if you sneeze when you're alone, it's funny.

00:21:42 Seth

The time back in assignment, yeah.

00:21:54 Colleen

'cause I was.

00:21:54 Colleen

Just saying that if you sneeze when you're alone and no one.

00:21:57 Seth

OK.

00:21:58 Colleen

There to say God bless you.

00:22:00 Colleen

He instructed for you to say yourself a prayer for yourself, saying something.

00:22:04 Colleen

Like God help me.

00:22:10

And that's that's.

00:22:11 Colleen

It that's that's the origins of God.

00:22:13 Colleen

Bless you with sneezing.

00:22:15 Seth

This is the child that sneezes because they are the key.

00:22:22

The key just.

00:22:23 Colleen

Cutting the gems.

00:22:24 Seth

No, alright?

00:22:25 Seth

Well that's actually good because I did not.

00:22:28 Seth

I didn't know all that because we say God bless I'm like OK So what the hell does that mean like God bless.

00:22:32 Colleen

Right, so I'm saying like this stuff is so ingrained in our behaviors in society, right?

00:22:32 Seth

You that yeah, that's.

00:22:33 Seth

My game freaking sense.

00:22:36 Colleen

So it's it's kind of cool to go back and explore some of these to see well.

00:22:41 Colleen

Where does this actually come from?

00:22:43 Seth

Yeah absolutely absolutely well.

00:22:45

Which are that?

00:22:45 Seth

I got one.

00:22:46 Seth

Well I got one that.

00:22:47 Seth

Uh, I think that mean you talked about this already, but it's laughable.

00:22:52 Seth

So we gotta talk about it again, alright?

00:22:53 Colleen

OK, what is it I'm ready.

00:22:57 Seth

The lucky rabbit's foot.

00:23:00 Seth

All right, so we talked about this back in the day, so listeners, if you haven't listened to all of our episodes, go back.

00:23:06 Seth

We talked about this really briefly with the FAD episode alright, and the reason why we talked about this because things that, Yep, the fads and trends.

00:23:11

Fashion trends.

00:23:13 Seth

We talked about that because that was a thing that people did.

00:23:16 Seth

All the time, right?

00:23:16 Colleen

Uh, it was.

00:23:17 Seth

You the Spencer gifts.

00:23:17 Colleen

It was very in FAD in trend for us to carry around.

00:23:21 Seth

Yeah, exactly so I had one.

00:23:22 Colleen

That animal parts.

00:23:24 Seth

Now I'm going to ask you.

00:23:27 Seth

Do you remember what color yours was?

00:23:29 Seth

Was it a?

00:23:29 Seth

Color or was it?

00:23:30 Colleen

I had more than.

00:23:31 Colleen

One at different times I had like a hot.

00:23:33 Colleen

Ink green or just random ones that were attached to key chains, and I would hook it to the back of.

00:23:36 Seth

I think mine would.

00:23:39 Colleen

My backpack.

00:23:41 Colleen

And just run around with it.

00:23:41 Seth

I think mine was green.

00:23:43 Seth

I think I had a green one too.

00:23:45 Seth

Stupid right?

00:23:46 Seth

OK, so first of all you have a taxidermy.

00:23:50 Seth

Steve Rabbit's foot, and you're selling that in a retail store.

00:23:50 Colleen

I know.

00:23:53 Colleen

I know.

00:23:56 Colleen

To children's

00:23:57 Seth

The children's it's not like you know. Yeah, grown adults. It probably were because I don't think I was definitely a teenager, but I wasn't in my 20s. But who knows I might have had one just sitting around.

00:24:01 Colleen

Oh yeah.

00:24:06 Seth

So we had this taxidermy nasty as rabbits foot being.

00:24:10 Seth

I'm so sorry for the poor rabbits that had to lose their lives over.

00:24:13 Colleen

I know.

00:24:13 Colleen

These feet just for it, right?

00:24:17 Seth

So a lot of this, though there actually is a little origin when it.

00:24:20 Seth

Comes to.

00:24:20 Seth

This stuff so well back in the 16th century, right?

00:24:21 Colleen

OK, do tell.

00:24:23 Seth

There actually were considered talismans to keep off evil spirits, right?

00:24:29 Seth

So you would think in some religions what's the one Santeria right with having the chicken feed the chicken blood, you rub that over like a door thing that keeps evil spirits out, right?

00:24:40 Seth

I'm quote UN quote. We all heard of that right. Quote UN quote right? So get that one lucky Rabbit's foot with the same thing, so some kind of a Talisman.

00:24:49 Seth

Was involved.

00:24:51 Seth

Regarding keeping evil spirits away, and that's actually tide into Celtic culture.

00:24:56 Seth

Also with African American culture too, when it comes to having some kind of a lucky Talisman that keeps evil things away, now it's it's funny because I used it more of good luck and not keeping evil spirits away.

00:25:10 Colleen

Right, right?

00:25:11 Colleen

That's how we thought about.

00:25:12 Colleen

It, but if you think about it now, it's like one and the same, right?

00:25:16 Seth

Right exactly 'cause good luck might mean that.

00:25:19 Seth

OK, that's good.

00:25:20 Seth

Keeping bad luck or bad spirits away.

00:25:23 Seth

So my fortune would.

00:25:24 Seth

Be better, it all makes sense now.

00:25:28 Seth

'cause I'm an adult and I.

00:25:29 Seth

Look into the.

00:25:29 Seth

History of it, but packing there was like, well, this will happen.

00:25:32 Seth

I'll rub this foot and I legit.

00:25:33 Seth

Used to rub this foot and used to think that thing was.

00:25:37 Seth

You know, good luck.

00:25:38 Seth

Which is ridiculous.

00:25:39 Seth

I don't know why, but.

00:25:41 Colleen

I'll be honest, I was always a little.

00:25:41 Seth

You don't need.

00:25:43 Colleen

Skeeved out by it to if I'm being.

00:25:45 Colleen

'cause just tearing around the dead I didn't.

00:25:48 Colleen

I mean they were given as gifts at random times.

00:25:51 Colleen

You know, as we're kids and birthday presents and just random things and.

00:25:56 Seth

So here goes the question.

00:25:58 Colleen

Just trying to be cool and stay on trend.

00:25:58 Seth

Like you know I can't.

00:26:02 Seth

So 8 year old.

00:26:02 Colleen

As an 8 year old.

00:26:04 Seth

I probably had that when I was.

00:26:05 Seth

A teenager, that's how.

00:26:06 Seth

Sad I am.

00:26:07 Seth

I'm pretty ******* sad.

00:26:09 Seth

I'm a sad creature, so anyway, so here goes.

00:26:13 Seth

A question that I don't think that we.

00:26:14 Seth

Can answer all.

00:26:15 Seth

Right, and do you really think that that was actually a taxidermied foot?

00:26:15 Colleen

OK.

00:26:19 Seth

'cause I looked at it closely and it really does look real.

00:26:24 Colleen

I yes, I think that they absolutely were. I mean, if you if you Google 1980s 'cause that was when I mean that was when.

00:26:26 Seth

Then look it up.

00:26:33 Colleen

I was carrying around a foot.

00:26:37 Colleen

If we look into that.

00:26:38 Colleen

I'm pretty sure we'll see that it was an actual legitimate dead animal that we were all carrying around.

00:26:46 Seth

Oh God.

00:26:48 Seth

Who's it?

00:26:48

Right?

00:26:49 Seth

Anyway, so all right, you got one another actually.

00:26:53 Colleen

Yes, I do have another one up I wanted to.

00:26:56 Colleen

Quickly talk about the whole.

00:26:59 Colleen

Superstition revolving around broken mirrors.

00:27:02 Seth

OK, I want to know about that.

00:27:04 Seth

1/2

00:27:04 Colleen

Yeah, it's pretty interesting actually so.

00:27:07 Seth

I have an idea of what it's about, but I'll let you school me so.

00:27:12 Colleen

Basically, back in ancient Greece it was common for people to consult what they called mirror mirror, see or I?

00:27:18 Colleen

Can't say it.

00:27:19 Seth

A mirror's ear.

00:27:20 Colleen

Yes, thank you.

00:27:21 Colleen

OK.

00:27:22 Colleen

Who told their fortunes by analyzing their reflections?

00:27:25 Colleen

So there's a historian that explained in his book that divination was performed by means of water and a looking glass, and it was called.

00:27:35 Colleen

Let me try to say it.

00:27:38 Seth

Oh Lord, just like that.

00:27:41 Colleen

Cattle trohman see cattle.

00:27:45 Colleen

Cattle trohman see.

00:27:46 Seth

OK.

00:27:47 Colleen

So that's what it was called.

00:27:50 Colleen

The mirror was dipped into the water and a sick person was asked to look into the glass, and if his image appeared distorted, he was likely to die.

00:28:00 Colleen

If it was clear he would live.

00:28:03

So that's the.

00:28:03 Seth

What kind of mumbo jumbo is that?

00:28:07

I know.

00:28:07 Seth

He could have a dirty mirror and all of a.

00:28:09 Seth

Sudden you're going to die, basically.

00:28:09 Colleen

I know.

00:28:10 Colleen

There may be.

00:28:11 Colleen

Some oil on it and just.

00:28:11 Seth

Right exactly because people people were probably dirty back then, so I'm thinking like they had grease all over it and.

00:28:12 Colleen

Kind of like sticks, right?

00:28:19 Colleen

Yeah, and then so that.

00:28:19 Seth

That's messed up.

00:28:20 Colleen

There's a caveat.

00:28:21 Colleen

To this right?

00:28:21 Colleen

So in the 1st century.

00:28:22

Right?

00:28:23 Colleen

A D the.

00:28:24 Colleen

Romans added on to this so at that time it was believed that people health changed.

00:28:29 Colleen

Every seven years in a cycle, so a distorted image resulting from broken mirror, therefore, meant seven years of ill health or misfortune rather than outright death.

00:28:32

OK.

00:28:37 Seth

Bad luck.

00:28:41 Seth

Ah, so that's why the seven years of bad luck.

00:28:44 Colleen

Yeah, so originally in Ancient Greece it was.

00:28:45

Comes now.

00:28:45 Seth

OK.

00:28:46 Colleen

Like oh, your?

00:28:47 Colleen

Image is distorted.

00:28:48 Colleen

You're gonna die and then later.

00:28:50 Colleen

The Romans were like 7 years.

00:28:53 Colleen

They just changed it a little.

00:28:54 Seth

Bit, so if you survive the seven years and they're saying you start over.

00:28:58 Colleen

Yep, Yep with your health or whatever.

00:28:59 Seth

OK.

00:29:00 Colleen

So and in in folklore, breaking a mirror.

00:29:04 Colleen

As we know, is a surefire word.

00:29:06 Colleen

Or fire.

00:29:06 Colleen

Weird, I can't, huh?

00:29:07 Seth

Sure, fire away.

00:29:11 Colleen

A surefire way to doom yourself, and it seems to arise from the belief that mirrors don't just reflect your image, but that they also hold bits of your soul.

00:29:23 Colleen

That's creepy, and that belief is what led people of the olden days to cover their mirrors in a house when someone died.

00:29:23 Seth

I'm fast.

00:29:30 Seth

I can't stand movies that have mirrors and.

00:29:33 Colleen

I know, I know.

00:29:33 Seth

That kicked me out.

00:29:34 Colleen

No, I know.

00:29:35 Colleen

Or when they are covered and then they uncover him.

00:29:37 Colleen

I'm always waiting for.

00:29:38 Colleen

Like crazy.

00:29:38 Seth

Something to be like behind the person or something like that or something looking at you through the mirror, and that's kind of where you're going, right?

00:29:44

Right?

00:29:45 Colleen

Yes, because exactly the reason they covered is because if they thought that if they didn't cover it, their souls would be trapped inside.

00:29:45 Seth

You covered the mirror because.

00:29:53 Colleen

Oh God.

00:29:54 Colleen

So they want to keep it.

00:29:55 Colleen

They want to make sure they don't get trapped.

00:29:57 Colleen

Which kind of makes sense.

00:29:59 Seth

I don't know.

00:30:00 Seth

It makes sense to me.

00:30:01 Colleen

I mean, well.

00:30:02 Seth

If I'm being irrational on myself.

00:30:05 Seth

From irrational mind it makes sense.

00:30:06 Seth

Yes, I mean.

00:30:07 Colleen

I guess if you're saying like the corpse is going to pass a mirror and it might you.

00:30:11 Colleen

Know what I mean?

00:30:12 Colleen

Like I, that's so just so I would think leave it uncovered to let the soul escape.

00:30:16 Colleen

But the old belief is that you cover it to make sure it didn't get trapped.

00:30:20 Colleen

Inside so.

00:30:21 Seth

Well, no, we well.

00:30:23 Seth

The thing is well.

00:30:24 Colleen

But either way, it's creepy as.

00:30:25 Colleen

Hell, if you think about every time you.

00:30:27 Colleen

Look at it.

00:30:28 Colleen

Yes, that goes back to the whole thing with it was a Native Americans believed when you take up.

00:30:32 Colleen

Picture your little bits of your soul.

00:30:34 Colleen

Or same same concept.

00:30:34 Seth

Right exactly so it makes sense, right?

00:30:37 Seth

If we're talking about nonsensical things because some of this stuff is just nonsensical, right?

00:30:41 Seth

But since we're talking about it right, they always not always.

00:30:46 Seth

They have said in the past that mirrors are portals of some sort, so that's why you close it up.

00:30:50 Colleen

Right?

00:30:51 Seth

So if you leave the portal open, then there could be.

00:30:54 Seth

Some of your soul that does get sucked into it.

00:30:56 Seth

So if you're going like if you're going down this road, if you want to get crazy, I'll get crazy, right?

00:31:01 Seth

Which yeah?

00:31:03 Seth

So that's what that is, what could happen?

00:31:07 Seth

If you do that.

00:31:07 Colleen

So I guess then if you think of it that.

00:31:09 Colleen

Way if your soul.

00:31:10 Colleen

's in the mirror and then you break the mirror then that's.

00:31:14 Colleen

Why it's all?

00:31:15 Seth

Your soul is lost forever.

00:31:15 Colleen

Bad luck and bad omens.

00:31:17 Colleen

And yeah, like I.

00:31:19 Colleen

I mean that is a rabbit hole.

00:31:21 Colleen

You can just keep going down and getting more and more freaked out if you ask me.

00:31:23 Seth

Yeah, I'm glad we're doing this podcast during the day.

00:31:25 Colleen

Together, I know.

00:31:25 Seth

I'm already getting scared and ****.

00:31:27 Seth

I'm glad we're together during the day.

00:31:31 Colleen

Yeah, it was night time game over.

00:31:33 Seth

Yeah, I'm like OK we gotta cut this podcast short.

00:31:34

You'd be like hold on, let me go just let.

00:31:36

Me go get my onesie.

00:31:37

Right?

00:31:39 Seth

Honey, my onesie.

00:31:40 Seth

I need my security blanket.

00:31:42 Seth

This is ********.

00:31:45

All right well?

00:31:45 Seth

I learned something there.

00:31:47 Seth

I see I'm already going down crazy town here with you, goodness gracious.

00:31:48 Colleen

Mm-hmm yeah.

00:31:51 Seth

All right, we got any more.

00:31:53 Colleen

Yeah, I mean I want to know like what your thoughts are on just.

00:31:57 Colleen

Overall regular random stuff 'cause I know like a lot of people in sports and in music and in.

00:32:02

OK.

00:32:02 Seth

OK.

00:32:04 Colleen

Hollywood even or.

00:32:05 Colleen

Whatever, like there's just, uh, people do weird.

00:32:07 Colleen

**** all the time.

00:32:09 Seth

OK, so I would definitely say even though I kind of already covered it, but that's me as a as a sports fan, but people in sports absolutely have superstitions or rituals things that they do absolutely, I mean you.

00:32:26 Seth

Get guys that will not not wash their jockstrap.

00:32:31 Seth

Look, you know through the whole season of whatever sport is, it could be, it could be wrestling, anyone, anything that you wear a jock strap with would be football.

00:32:35 Colleen

Oh my God.

00:32:39 Colleen

Can anybody say fungus?

00:32:39 Seth

Whatever wrestling, yeah, fungus amongus.

00:32:42 Colleen

Fungus among us.

00:32:44 Seth

Well, I was not wearing someone else's jockstrap.

00:32:46 Seth

I think you could be all right, I don't know.

00:32:49 Colleen

Yeah, yeah.

00:32:49 Seth

Nasty, but hey, if it gets you wins it gets you win.

00:32:53 Seth

So that's one I can really think of and I'm sure people in baseball.

00:32:56 Seth

Do a lot of that kind of stuff, I'm.

00:32:57 Colleen

I'm sure everybody.

00:32:58 Colleen

Does so people have these rituals and.

00:33:00 Colleen

Stuff and that's.

00:33:00 Colleen

It it's only problematic if they start to believe that if they don't do it.

00:33:05 Colleen

Then they're gonna.

00:33:05 Colleen

I don't know, but yeah.

00:33:06 Seth

Well same thing.

00:33:07 Seth

I used to rub the the turtle head at University of Maryland and you rubbed.

00:33:11 Colleen

You yeah, yeah.

00:33:13 Seth

You know Tostados head before you go win.

00:33:13 Colleen

Not huh?

00:33:16 Seth

Their right people do that.

00:33:17 Seth

Alright, they lose all the time, OK, whatever.

00:33:19

You're right.

00:33:21 Seth

I got another one so I'm gonna talk about my future ex-wife.

00:33:25 Colleen

OK, yeah, I know I.

00:33:27 Colleen

Know who she is.

00:33:28 Seth

If you guys don't know who my future ex-wife is, her name is Kesha.

00:33:37 Seth

Made her dress.

00:33:38 Seth

She's just so hot in a trailer trash kind of way.

00:33:40 Seth

That's why I like her man.

00:33:41 Seth

She's all like trashy, but she's hot trashy.

00:33:42 Seth

I love it so anyway, so one thing that they used to do her her entourage.

00:33:47 Seth

What they used to do is before all of her shows they used to roll around in oil and glitter backstage.

00:33:55 Colleen

I mean, that sounds right on.

00:33:57 Colleen

Right on par with her.

00:33:58 Seth

Oh yeah, exactly 'cause if you see her she always has like glitter on her face.

00:34:01 Seth

I don't know what she's doing now, but back in the day when I was in love with her and I.

00:34:04 Seth

Still kind of am.

00:34:05 Seth

She won't return my calls, but and that's another story so.

00:34:08 Colleen

She's she's.

00:34:10 Colleen

As a restraining order.

00:34:11 Seth

She's still thinking about the relationship, but she's not ready for it yet.

00:34:15 Seth

But anyway, you know they used to do that, and they, I guess they still do it.

00:34:19 Seth

She's still touring.

00:34:20 Seth

She won't answer my calls.

00:34:21 Seth

But so I'm sure that so people do that.

00:34:24 Seth

It's crazy.

00:34:25 Seth

I wouldn't do that.

00:34:26 Seth

I mean, if it was with her, I totally do it, but anybody else?

00:34:30

Yeah, said.

00:34:30 Seth

That's the only one I really got.

00:34:32 Colleen

Well, OK, well it's interesting.

00:34:33 Colleen

You bring up the music stuff 'cause I.

00:34:35 Colleen

Do know of a of.

00:34:37 Colleen

A superstition, superstitious belief in the music biz.

00:34:40 Colleen

It's the curse of the whitelighter, and I'm sure a lot of people have heard this, but there's a saying that those, really.

00:34:45 Seth

I have not.

00:34:47 Seth

No, I don't anything about a whitelighter.

00:34:49 Colleen

It's like bad luck if you have a whitelighter and if you have a whitelighter.

00:34:53 Colleen

At the very least, you could take a Sharpie and like Draw Something that something on it or like, write a word on it or and it's no longer just a white later but having.

00:35:01 Colleen

A white lighter is.

00:35:02

I have

00:35:03 Colleen

Bad luck.

00:35:04 Colleen

I mean, that's just the superstitious belief, but.

00:35:05 Seth

OK.

00:35:07 Seth

OK.

00:35:08 Colleen

There is a saying that those who use a whitelighter are cursed, and it seems farfetched and utterly unrelated to music, but did you know that some famous musicians, such as Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and Jim Morrison were all found in possession of a whitelighter when they passed?

00:35:28 Colleen

Second, I mean come on dude, come on.

00:35:31 Colleen

Just saying, just saying.

00:35:35 Seth

Dude, this is this goes back to the definition.

00:35:37 Seth

Let's go back there, damn.

00:35:37 Colleen

Exactly, it goes.

00:35:38 Seth

Dirty, you know what I'm saying?

00:35:39 Colleen

Yes, it goes back to again.

00:35:41 Colleen

We have signs and symbols that that when they come true or we we connect it together so later.

00:35:47 Seth

Right?

00:35:48 Colleen

Oh yeah, that's a perfect example.

00:35:50 Seth

Exactly, Wikipedia says it is commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck amulets the lighter.

00:35:57 Seth

Astrology fortunetelling blah blah blah so OK, so who can really say that they were found with a whitelighter?

00:36:05 Seth

If there is some truth to that, I'm shook.

00:36:08 Seth

I will never use a whitelighter or get him on.

00:36:08 Colleen

Mean that's you can look it.

00:36:10 Colleen

Up look it up.

00:36:11 Seth

Me OK.

00:36:15 Seth

I want to throw away all my damn whitelighters now if I have any.

00:36:18 Colleen

You should just not.

00:36:19 Colleen

Use a white letter.

00:36:21 Seth

Yeah, well, what about the last one break a leg is that.

00:36:25 Colleen

Yeah yeah, yeah I.

00:36:26 Colleen

Mean that's as you know, if anybody is about to like go on stage.

00:36:31 Colleen

You're not supposed to say good luck.

00:36:33 Colleen

You're supposed to say, break a leg.

00:36:34 Colleen

If you say good.

00:36:35 Colleen

Luck, then that's actually bad luck.

00:36:37 Seth

The kind of backwards as stuff as this.

00:36:39 Colleen

That's a superstitious belief.

00:36:43 Seth

All right, so you know this stuff goes.

00:36:46 Seth

I'm glad we went down this trip down memory memory lane because I didn't understand a lot of this stuff.

00:36:52 Seth

The rabbits foot.

00:36:52 Seth

I really didn't get that either and I did it.

00:36:56 Seth

The God bless you.

00:36:57 Seth

I didn't, you know, just like you said, this stuff is so ingrained we just do these things and there's some other things that we can talk.

00:37:02 Seth

About later on in our own lives, which I'm excited to talk about and ask you about too so.

00:37:08 Seth

We'll probably go into that a little more too, and so I'm looking forward to that.

00:37:11 Colleen

Yeah, I.

00:37:12 Colleen

Yes, me too, but real quick.

00:37:14 Colleen

Before we do that, I wanted to tell some of our listeners about superstitions in the world that they may have never ever heard of.

00:37:22 Colleen

OK, OK, I mean this is a big big world and there's a lot of things.

00:37:25 Colleen

We don't know.

00:37:26 Seth

All right, so this one is from Serbia.

00:37:28 Seth

All right?

00:37:29 Seth

All right, so if you were asked me to point Serbia out on the map, I couldn't tell you.

00:37:34 Seth

It was somewhere in the Russian Ish area, so anyway.

00:37:38 Seth

Spilling water behind someone, so that's a superstition right here goes nothing.

00:37:42 Seth

OK.

00:37:45 Seth

Water in Serbian beliefs.

00:37:48 Seth

Let's just say it's supposed to be fluid, so a good little thing to do is if someone is going for a job interview or going on a trip or something, you throw water behind them.

00:37:57 Seth

And that's supposed to be good luck.

00:37:59 Seth

OK, I would think someone spilled a drink behind me.

00:38:01 Seth

If it was me.

00:38:02 Seth

But anyway, so you would, yeah.

00:38:04 Seth

So supposed to represent fluidity, and I think we've all heard that right?

00:38:07 Seth

If you look at other, you know types of cultures out there.

00:38:11 Seth

Water is fluid and blah blah.

00:38:13 Seth

I'm a water sign so I I.

00:38:15 Seth

Know these things already.

00:38:15 Colleen

So am I.

00:38:16 Seth

So yeah, so you do that.

00:38:19 Seth

So someone going on trips say alright, good luck or, you know, have a safe flight and then so they turn.

00:38:24 Seth

Around you just go douche.

00:38:28 Seth

Right probably shouldn't do that in the airport, but anyway, that's actually I may do that.

00:38:33 Seth

I'm a little superstitious.

00:38:34 Seth

Do that alright, so here goes something that if they're doing that in Serbia, this is what we do in the United States, right?

00:38:40

OK.

00:38:40 Seth

One of your homeboys dies, right?

00:38:42 Colleen

You a little.

00:38:42 Seth

You pour some out for your homie, right?

00:38:44 Seth

'cause what are supposed to be fluid water, beer?

00:38:46 Seth

Whatever it's fluid, so that's supposed to be into the atmosphere, right?

00:38:50 Seth

So you poor little you poor little summer out for your homie.

00:38:53 Seth

'cause if they're spirits there they pour it out.

00:38:55 Seth

So I guess there's a little bit of this a little little bit everywhere in different.

00:39:00 Seth

Iterations, so to speak.

00:39:01 Colleen

Yes, exactly, it's cool how it all ties together.

00:39:04 Seth

Yeah, yeah yeah, absolutely absolutely yeah, that's crazy.

00:39:04 Colleen

You asked me.

00:39:07 Seth

So it sounded like kind of ridiculous with the spilling water, but then after I'm talking about, I'm like, huh?

00:39:12 Seth

Yeah, we kind.

00:39:12 Seth

Of do that over here, don't we know roundabout way so?

00:39:15 Seth

Yeah, so I'm.

00:39:16 Colleen

Gonna actually take a link that I found that has weird superstitions from different places in the world and add it to the show notes because.

00:39:23 Seth

OK.

00:39:23 Colleen

I think people will get a kick out of just reading up on some of them.

00:39:26 Seth

Oh yeah, some of these are good, and there's there's a whole bunch.

00:39:29 Seth

Out there, yeah?

00:39:32 Seth

I want to talk about some of the stuff that I actually do.

00:39:35 Seth

Now because.

00:39:36 Colleen

Yeah, I mean I want to hear some stories about you and I through our lives and the things we do.

00:39:41 Colleen

Things we've done, things we've seen people do.

00:39:43 Seth

This is going to be embarrassing.

00:39:45 Seth

This is gonna be embarrassing.

00:39:46 Seth

'cause we're like you got these guys in your 40s.

00:39:49 Seth

You got to still doing this.

00:39:50 Colleen

I mean everybody is.

00:39:51 Colleen

Let's just be real we.

00:39:52 Seth

I know you're right.

00:39:52 Colleen

Do it I.

00:39:53 Colleen

I guarantee that we probably do something superstitious every day without even being like cognizant of it.

00:39:59 Seth

No, you're right.

00:40:00 Seth

I would totally agree to that, and so the more we talk about this.

00:40:04 Seth

I think that some stuff is going to come out and we're going to be like thinking Dang man my whole.

00:40:08 Seth

Life is full.

00:40:09 Seth

Of lower magic.

00:40:09 Colleen

Right, yes, even exactly exactly.

00:40:13 Colleen

It's all magical thing, even if you're like talking to somebody and you know you're like, fingers crossed, that's a superstitious belief.

00:40:19 Colleen

Fingers crossed that just something simple as that.

00:40:22 Seth

You're right.

00:40:23 Colleen

So just think of how ingrained it is into our just daily interactions.

00:40:28 Seth

Knock on wood.

00:40:29 Seth

That's not the one that we decide.

00:40:30 Seth

Not to talk about, but.

00:40:31 Seth

There's there's history, but.

00:40:32 Colleen

I knock on wood all the time.

00:40:34 Seth

I think it's.

00:40:36 Colleen

Well, I mean, there's that.

00:40:37 Colleen

It's a pretty interesting back story for that one, so I'll let everybody look that up on.

00:40:41 Colleen

Their own, but I know.

00:40:41 Seth

Yeah, yeah he doesn't look that one out.

00:40:42 Colleen

I do it, I do it.

00:40:44 Colleen

I'll just be like, why not?

00:40:45 Colleen

On would who.

00:40:47 Colleen

See it out.

00:40:47 Seth

You know what?

00:40:47 Seth

I think.

00:40:47 Seth

It's a you know it's funny but I think people do and they start talking.

00:40:51 Seth

They say knock on wood, they actually knock.

00:40:52 Seth

On their head I.

00:40:54 Colleen

Do that too.

00:40:54 Colleen

There's no table, I just like.

00:40:55 Colleen

Knock on my head.

00:40:56 Colleen

Michael would Boo.

00:40:57 Colleen

Yeah, I've done that a million times.

00:40:59 Colleen

Jesus yeah.

00:41:01 Colleen

There's actually no wood nearby.

00:41:03 Colleen

I'll just knock on my head.

00:41:04 Colleen

But The thing is.

00:41:05 Colleen

It's like it's fully right, but if you.

00:41:06 Seth

Stupid, it's ******* ridiculous.

00:41:07 Colleen

Believe if you believe in this right, not not.

00:41:11 Colleen

I'm just saying if you have this superstitious belief and you have then associated it to being OK to knock on your head in place of actually knocking on wood, then it's OK.

00:41:14 Seth

OK.

00:41:22 Colleen

It doesn't matter if you actually are knocking on wood or not, but that's again, it's just all psychological.

00:41:23 Seth

Great thinkings and then.

00:41:27 Seth

It really is.

00:41:28 Seth

It's like it's psycho Babble.

00:41:31 Seth

It's because you don't get all the people where where you're saying, OK, you know we put in contact, you're saying OK?

00:41:36 Seth

Well, hopefully this happens.

00:41:37 Seth

You know, knock on wood, right?

00:41:39 Seth

And they know finding like wood around.

00:41:41 Seth

So I look in left and right like I can't find a way.

00:41:44 Colleen

Quick now go ahead.

00:41:44 Seth

Look, look this is wood.

00:41:46 Colleen

It just looks stupid.

00:41:50 Seth

All right, so anyway listeners you can look these things up.

00:41:53 Seth

I think they're freaking ridiculous.

00:41:55 Seth

But now I might embarrass myself because signal is the one that I actually do.

00:41:58 Colleen

Yeah, I want to know what you I want to know.

00:42:00 Colleen

Some things that you've done or that you still do.

00:42:02 Seth

I still do this and it's so stupid.

00:42:05 Seth

The whole thing about not splitting the pole.

00:42:08 Colleen

I do it.

00:42:09 Seth

You know it is so stupid.

00:42:11 Seth

And I don't even know why I do that.

00:42:12 Colleen

I do it too.

00:42:13 Seth

I just know it's bad luck, but I don't know any origins.

00:42:15 Seth

I don't know any of this stuff, so I decided to Google it and find out.

00:42:17 Colleen

Yeah, me neither.

00:42:20 Seth

OK, well, since we're talking about this, let's find out why.

00:42:21 Seth

The hell I do it.

00:42:22 Colleen

And you know about real quick deep, but so the reason I do it, I don't know what the origins is, but the reason.

00:42:22 Seth

I don't know.

00:42:27 Colleen

Why I do it?

00:42:28 Colleen

Like if I'm walking it's when you're walking with someone.

00:42:29 Colleen

Yes, maybe people don't know.

00:42:29 Seth

And you're walking with someone, yeah?

00:42:31 Colleen

Right, so maybe people don't know, so it's when we're walking with somebody and there might be a pole, a telephone pole, whatever.

00:42:32 Seth

OK, you're right.

00:42:33 Seth

You're right, you're right.

00:42:37 Seth

It could be anything.

00:42:38 Colleen

Yeah, and you're not supposed to split the poll between the two people, so if you do so with the poll, that's considered bad luck.

00:42:42 Seth

Right?

00:42:46 Colleen

Or it brings like distance between you two or something like that, correct?

00:42:49 Seth

Yeah, and that's what is.

00:42:50 Seth

And I heard that you know, bad things can happen.

00:42:50

That's what I always thought.

00:42:52 Seth

So if you like, split the pole and you're walking down the street.

00:42:54 Seth

And this is.

00:42:55 Seth

How I start?

00:42:56 Colleen

More than a piano will come.

00:42:56 Seth

Thinking out right exactly, you might hit by a car or like something because you're walking outside, but I I still do it inside.

00:42:57 Colleen

Out of this fire.

00:43:03 Seth

It's ridiculous.

00:43:04 Seth

So you know what I do.

00:43:05 Seth

I still do this to this day.

00:43:07 Seth

If I'm walking around something and one person going this way, one person in that way and people probably see me do this and I and the pole gets split, I just.

00:43:13

You you reverse, I do the same thing.

00:43:15 Seth

Turn around and I reverse.

00:43:16 Colleen

Should I do the same thing?

00:43:19 Seth

Oh really, Oh my God, I did.

00:43:19 Colleen

I feel funny, yes, because sometimes I don't want.

00:43:21 Seth

I was like I don't want the pole.

00:43:22 Colleen

To write I.

00:43:23 Colleen

Do it when I don't want to make.

00:43:24 Colleen

A big deal out of.

00:43:25 Colleen

It or be like cuckoo.

00:43:25 Colleen

Burgers with the

00:43:26 Colleen

Pool, so I just quietly reverse and go back.

00:43:30 Colleen

So as not to bring a lot of attention.

00:43:33 Seth

All right so here good OK.

00:43:33 Colleen

But but I also I also say if I if I can't reverse it, I just say the magic.

00:43:41

Peanut butter Jelly

00:43:45 Seth

What, what in the hell is that supposed to be?

00:43:49

I don't know, I don't know.

00:43:49 Seth

Verse C.

00:43:51 Seth

I've never heard of that so I when I looked this up.

00:43:54 Seth

I was like there's a reversal to this, so now I can so, but but the reversal is so ridiculous.

00:44:00 Seth

I think I'd rather just turn around and not split the pole instead of saying peanut butter and Jelly.

00:44:07 Colleen

Well, read me what you found because I'm.

00:44:08 Colleen

Surprised you found something I want to hear this.

00:44:09 Seth

Well, it's it's.

00:44:11 Seth

It's basically the same thing, but it's just.

00:44:13 Seth

Bread and butter.

00:44:16 Seth

Oh, now I get it.

00:44:17 Seth

Now I get it now that we're talking about.

00:44:19 Seth

OK, so this.

00:44:19 Seth

Is the.

00:44:19 Seth

Reason why you actually do it because Peter Brown and Jelly go together and bread and butter.

00:44:20 Colleen

Oh yes, that does make sense.

00:44:23 Colleen

Yes, go to go.

00:44:26

Oh, look at that.

00:44:29 Seth

We learn.

00:44:30

All the lights.

00:44:30 Seth

It's not like oh OK, so now it makes sense, alright?

00:44:30

Are going off on top.

00:44:36 Colleen

Ham burger.

00:44:37

Right?

00:44:41 Seth

Cereal and milk, yeah?

00:44:43 Colleen

Yes, I guess.

00:44:45 Seth

So that's the reason why.

00:44:46 Seth

So that's the most ridiculous.

00:44:47 Colleen

OK.

00:44:48 Seth

It's not by myself.

00:44:49 Seth

OK, so I don't split the poll.

00:44:49 Colleen

You're not, you're not alone.

00:44:51 Seth

I do not split the poll.

00:44:52 Seth

I do a little reversal and I'll just do it and I don't tell the other person I don't want to.

00:44:56 Seth

I don't want to throw my ridiculousness onto somebody else, so if they split the poll, I just walk around it.

00:45:01 Seth

I don't tell them.

00:45:02 Seth

You don't.

00:45:02

Right, you still back.

00:45:02

What's up all?

00:45:03 Seth

Right, go around.

00:45:04 Seth

You come this way come back come back left laughed, laughed your brother last.

00:45:08 Colleen

Although I have done that, I have done that.

00:45:10 Colleen

I've been like.

00:45:10 Colleen

Stop use what I have done that in.

00:45:11 Colleen

The past I have.

00:45:12 Seth

Oh my God.

00:45:12 Colleen

Said stop use with the pole come back.

00:45:14 Colleen

It depends on how comfortable I am with somebody to be honest.

00:45:17 Seth

I've done this **** like less than a week ago.

00:45:19 Seth

That's how we do it in Siam.

00:45:19

OK, see.

00:45:21 Colleen

I'll tell you stuff I still do.

00:45:21

It's the.

00:45:22 Seth

All right, what do we do?

00:45:22 Colleen

I still if I'm.

00:45:23 Colleen

Going if I'm driving and.

00:45:25 Colleen

I go through a yellow.

00:45:26 Colleen

Light I will like kiss my hand and then hit the dash or hit the ceiling as I'm going through it.

00:45:33 Seth

I used to do that.

00:45:34 Seth

I used to do that when I.

00:45:35 Seth

Was my early 20s.

00:45:36 Seth

I don't even know.

00:45:37 Colleen

Where this came?

00:45:37 Colleen

From or what the heck it means, but.

00:45:38 Seth

I mean, we're we're weird people.

00:45:40 Seth

OK, so what's?

00:45:41 Seth

The origin of that.

00:45:42 Seth

Did you find any origin?

00:45:43 Colleen

No, I have no idea.

00:45:43 Seth

Did you?

00:45:44 Colleen

I didn't even look.

00:45:45 Colleen

It up, I have no idea.

00:45:46 Colleen

I'm just thinking like that's one that's something I do.

00:45:48 Seth

Well, it's probably I know exactly what it is.

00:45:52

Do you?

00:45:52 Seth

You're just, you're just thanking the Lord that you're not getting T boned while you're breaking the law.

00:45:58 Seth

That's basically.

00:45:58 Colleen

Basically, OK, fair enough I have.

00:46:01

Here's a.

00:46:01 Colleen

I have actually been T boned in that scenario before, so maybe.

00:46:05 Colleen

That's what but.

00:46:05 Colleen

But this is something that has come.

00:46:08 Colleen

You know, but people been doing this forever.

00:46:10 Colleen

I don't know where it actually started or whatever.

00:46:12 Colleen

We probably saw somebody else doing it and we started doing it.

00:46:14 Seth

Yeah definitely yeah.

00:46:16 Seth

That it's just good luck and you do that.

00:46:18 Seth

You know I should do it over train tracks.

00:46:20 Colleen

Yep Yep, Yep and you know it's funny and you're gonna really make fun of.

00:46:23 Colleen

Me for this because.

00:46:23 Seth

I'm sorry.

00:46:24 Colleen

I'm so aware of germs and whatnot and not touching my face.

00:46:28 Colleen

Whereas back in the day I would literally like put hand to mouth and kiss my hand, I don't do that anymore.

00:46:34 Colleen

I now just like blow kiss in the air and then hit the thing and.

00:46:39 Colleen

And because it's psychological.

00:46:41 Colleen

I have now said that that's OK and that that is that will that'll do that'll do.

00:46:46 Seth

Damn Cova got ******** even changing their superstitions man.

00:46:48 Colleen

Dude, this was this was before COVID.

00:46:50 Colleen

This was before COVID.

00:46:51 Colleen

This is me with my germ stuff way before 'cause I've been dealing with what people are dealing with now for decades.

00:46:57 Seth

Down with the sickness.

00:46:58 Colleen

Yeah, get up, come on, get down with the sickness.

00:47:02 Seth

Alright, so OK, I don't do that anymore.

00:47:05 Seth

That's over.

00:47:05 Seth

Did you know I can't even throw stones here right?

00:47:08 Seth

Because I can't do some 'cause I still do the ridiculous splitting the whole nonsense.

00:47:08 Colleen

You can't.

00:47:12 Colleen

We know what else I used to do all the time.

00:47:12

You know?

00:47:14 Colleen

As a kid, I don't do it anymore because I just kind of just tried to get it out of my mind, but there was a time when I used to be so.

00:47:18 Seth

OK.

00:47:22 Colleen

Concerned about driving past the cemetery that I would hold my breath the whole time.

00:47:28 Seth

I have only done that a handful of times because I heard that and I had no idea what that means.

00:47:33 Seth

Probably is something with the evil spirits that might.

00:47:35 Colleen

Yes, you then breathe them in.

00:47:36 Seth

That are floating around yeah, oh God, that's creepy.

00:47:37 Colleen

Milk, if you hold your breath, you're protected.

00:47:41 Seth

Well, there's some pretty big cemeteries out there, so good luck with that.

00:47:43 Colleen

I know I think I think there was one time where it was, just like very very very long like 2 and I couldn't do it anymore.

00:47:50 Colleen

And at that point I was like.

00:47:52 Colleen

You have a problem.

00:47:53 Colleen

Yeah, you need to address this.

00:47:56 Colleen

And then I did so.

00:47:58 Seth

Yeah, we you know another one I used to do is back in my smoking days and it was a very long time ago.

00:48:04 Seth

You have that lucky he turned over one of the cigarettes in there.

00:48:06 Colleen

Yes, yes.

00:48:08 Seth

Yes, so I should do.

00:48:09 Colleen

Me too way back in the day, Yep.

00:48:09 Seth

That, and you know what's funny.

00:48:11 Seth

I would always save that for the last.

00:48:13 Seth

Right?

00:48:13 Seth

But if it's supposed to be a lucky cigarette, why would you always save that for the last?

00:48:18 Seth

There were a couple of occasions if I wanted.

00:48:20 Seth

Good luck.

00:48:20 Seth

I would smoke it because it supposed to be a lucky cigarette.

00:48:23 Colleen

Right, well also, I think you were supposed to give it to somebody else too.

00:48:23 Seth

I don't know.

00:48:27 Colleen

At times like you passed along to somebody else.

00:48:29 Colleen

That's something I remember too, but.

00:48:30 Seth

I never did that.

00:48:31

You have to.

00:48:31 Colleen

Save it until the end, because if you didn't have it in your pack then it was bad luck, right?

00:48:37 Seth

Well, it now I don't.

00:48:39 Seth

I just said that that was the that was just.

00:48:41 Seth

It's just your lucky cigarette.

00:48:42 Seth

You flip it over and plus it always just get you out when someone wanted wanted a cigarette you say?

00:48:46 Seth

Well, I don't really got.

00:48:47 Seth

Me I'm.

00:48:48 Seth

Down to my lucky dude, I hate that I know even it's.

00:48:48

Right exactly exactly.

00:48:50 Seth

Like, oh, you don't want to touch the lucky?

00:48:51 Seth

Don't **** with the lucky.

00:48:52 Colleen

I know don't like and also I don't know if you did this, but I definitely did this.

00:48:56 Colleen

I would turn the same lucky over the same exact one in every pack like I.

00:48:59 Seth

Mine would be the front one might be the.

00:49:00 Colleen

Knew exactly

00:49:02 Seth

Hunt middle if you look at if you look at.

00:49:03

Mine was the.

00:49:04 Colleen

Back row, the third from the left.

00:49:06 Seth

Oh my God.

00:49:07 Seth

What a weird.

00:49:08 Seth

Weird with weird people, that's.

00:49:09

I don't think.

00:49:10 Seth

Asleep interest.

00:49:10 Colleen

It's just human nature.

00:49:12 Colleen

We just have this weird ****.

00:49:14 Colleen

That we do.

00:49:15 Seth

I think all of us have OCD and some you know.

00:49:17 Seth

This superstition has probably something to deal with OCD.

00:49:19 Seth

At the same time, like a very very mild case of OCD, like a tiny mild case of OCD, I'm gonna flip over this one cigarette in a little it's right.

00:49:20

I know a little bit.

00:49:25 Colleen

Yeah, yeah, I think.

00:49:26 Colleen

You and I might have a mental illness.

00:49:30 Seth

They're definitely mental.

00:49:30

Right?

00:49:32 Seth

Oh man, so.

00:49:32 Colleen

Good, I want to hear it.

00:49:33 Colleen

I want to hear some more.

00:49:35 Seth

I don't know.

00:49:36 Seth

We already took my knock on wood right?

00:49:37 Seth

I got.

00:49:37 Seth

That one I think.

00:49:37 Seth

That was kind of stupid, right?

00:49:38 Colleen

Yeah, well I got one.

00:49:39 Seth

Well, well.

00:49:40 Colleen

Bananas on boats.

00:49:42 Seth

OK then.

00:49:42 Colleen

I only learned about this one.

00:49:44 Colleen

Uhm, like two years ago when when before COVID because I was when I was still out and about and I was actually on a boat with some friends and we'd spend all this time out there and I just.

00:49:56 Colleen

Nonchalantly pull out my banana to eat my banana as my snack.

00:50:02 Colleen

And my friend whose boat it was like.

00:50:05 Colleen

What are you doing?

00:50:07 Colleen

Oh my God.

00:50:08 Colleen

Get that thing and like basic.

00:50:09 Colleen

Really smacked my hand to get my hand in it like this in the water.

00:50:14 Colleen

That's great.

00:50:15 Colleen

Floating floating in the water.

00:50:16 Colleen

I was like what is going on like I had no idea that was.

00:50:19 Colleen

The first

00:50:19 Colleen

Time I'd ever heard of bananas.

00:50:20 Seth

So yes, there.

00:50:21 Colleen

On boats being bad luck.

00:50:23 Seth

Well, I'm a boater and I used to be a sailor too, so I guess that's all boating right?

00:50:27 Seth

So I've been involved with with boats.

00:50:30 Seth

Not a terrible long time.

00:50:31 Seth

Let's just say maybe 10 years, right?

00:50:33

OK.

00:50:34 Seth

And that is something that I I learned when I first got into sailing sail with this guys name is Trevor.

00:50:39 Seth

This is going to be a long story, but anyway, it was one of those things and.

00:50:43 Seth

One and I actually took a banana on there.

00:50:45 Seth

He was like no the same thing like no, no.

00:50:46 Seth

He can't do.

00:50:47 Seth

That and I legit had to throw it in the water.

00:50:49 Seth

I was doing the water I.

00:50:50 Seth

Was like what the hell?

00:50:53 Seth

But that was when I first started boating and all that kind of stuff.

00:50:55 Seth

And then when I started driving my own boats, you know when I was part of the Boat Club and all that.

00:50:59 Seth

Kind of stuff.

00:51:00 Seth

I would never bring bananas on the boat, never.

00:51:02 Colleen

But did you know why?

00:51:03 Colleen

Or did you just kind of be like oh, I heard this so now I'm just going to keep doing this.

00:51:07 Colleen

'cause it's.

00:51:07 Colleen

What people do, they don't bring bans on boats 'cause it's bad luck.

00:51:10 Seth

No, well, since you know I was driving my own boats and all that, I did look it up and there's some quote UN quote facts behind it.

00:51:18 Seth

Well, one of things was back in the day when they were sailing across from other areas from different continents, right?

00:51:25 Seth

And they had.

00:51:26 Seth

Bananas on their bananas and those tropical climates.

00:51:29 Seth

They had poisonous spiders, poisonous insects in general.

00:51:32 Colleen

Right, that makes sense.

00:51:34 Seth

So what would happen is you can get bit by a spider and then you could die.

00:51:37 Seth

So it was bad luck to have bananas on boats because of the history of the things that would be inside the cargo that would have those kind of things.

00:51:46 Seth

So that's the reason why.

00:51:47 Colleen

See and.

00:51:48 Colleen

And I always thought, without knowing any of this, that it was something stupid like someone gonna slip on a banana peel on the deck and.

00:51:55

Fall in the water.

00:51:57 Colleen

Second, you.

00:52:00 Seth

Slept with a boat.

00:52:01 Seth

It should not be in Fernando Field.

00:52:03 Seth

Hit your head on a dam boom or something like that on the hand or something and something like cleat and then like oh now he document you died from head injuries.

00:52:04

Right?

00:52:09 Colleen

Exactly exactly exactly.

00:52:11 Seth

Now that would be crazy.

00:52:13 Colleen

See and that all kind of makes me think of those movies.

00:52:15 Colleen

Final destination, which also freaked me out because if you remember, there's a scene in.

00:52:20 Colleen

There where they're driving and Hwy to Hwy to hell comes on the radio and then.

00:52:22 Seth

Oh, I do.

00:52:25 Colleen

All the the logs come.

00:52:27 Colleen

And then they you know, I'm not going to do all the bad things that happen to them.

00:52:30 Colleen

But I will say that just from that kind of stuff like I end up giving my self, creating my own self superstitions, so if I'm driving and that song.

00:52:38 Seth

Oh my God, here we go.

00:52:40

Comes on.

00:52:41 Colleen

I had to change the channel.

00:52:43 Seth

Oh my God.

00:52:45 Seth

How old are you, woman?

00:52:46 Colleen

I will not listen to.

00:52:46 Seth

Chief how he to help?

00:52:49 Colleen

As much as I.

00:52:50 Colleen

Love ACDC I will not listen to it while I'm.

00:52:53 Seth

In the car well, you know what?

00:52:56 Seth

It's funny you mention that.

00:52:57 Seth

Movie 'cause I just saw.

00:52:58 Seth

The recent one that just came out a few months ago.

00:53:01 Colleen

I have

00:53:02 Seth

Not is it good? It is good. I actually like it because you know some of this stuff which is kind of like comedy, right? Some of it was comedy. It was a scary movie, quote, UN quote. Scary is one of the.

00:53:12 Seth

Things that so watching all these deaths so the final destination did come out not that long ago, and it was actually good.

00:53:19 Seth

And it's crazy because you're right, they would do one thing and then all these.

00:53:23 Seth

Almost impossible.

00:53:25 Seth

Implausible things were just happening like something would.

00:53:26

Yes, yeah.

00:53:28 Seth

Get loose it.

00:53:29 Seth

Would drop and then that would tick something up and take the gas off of something and then you light a cigarette with that white lighter.

00:53:29

Right?

00:53:33 Colleen

Right?

00:53:35

Uh, exactly exactly exactly.

00:53:37 Colleen

And then someone turns around, slips on a banana peel.

00:53:40

Right?

00:53:44 Colleen

And then the two people split the poll.

00:53:46 Seth

Right exactly and that's all.

00:53:49 Seth

Final destination was, so there if you wanna watch it just for nostalgia and to see the deaths because now it's all about the deaths, right?

00:53:56 Seth

You want to see how these people are actually going to die for how ridiculous ways that they're going to die.

00:54:00 Seth

So it's actually fun to watch.

00:54:02 Seth

So look it up, I think.

00:54:03 Seth

It's on the Netflix.

00:54:04 Colleen

OK, good thanks, I definitely.

00:54:06 Colleen

Will 'cause I didn't realize there was a new.

00:54:07 Colleen

One, I'll definitely check that out.

00:54:08 Seth

Well me either I was just looking around.

00:54:09 Seth

I thought I was like wow another found.

00:54:11 Seth

I said when did this come out?

00:54:12 Seth

It was like 20.

00:54:13 Seth

It wasn't it was either.

00:54:14 Seth

Recently or not that old and I was like, oh.

00:54:17 Seth

Oh wow, this they made another one of these things that movies like what?

00:54:21 Seth

15 years old it's gotta be at least.

00:54:24 Colleen

Yeah, I think it's 20 years old.

00:54:24 Seth

Well, maybe 10.

00:54:26 Colleen

No, I think it's older I.

00:54:27 Seth

Anyway, really it doesn't matter, but anyway so.

00:54:28 Colleen

Don't know.

00:54:32 Seth

All right, so that was fun.

00:54:33 Seth

That was fun going down memory lane.

00:54:36 Seth

And also current lane do 'cause I'm.

00:54:38 Seth

Still splitting shoot true.

00:54:38 Colleen

Yeah, right?

00:54:39

Yeah, that's.

00:54:41 Colleen

Who are we kidding?

00:54:45 Seth

I want to go on to one of.

00:54:46 Seth

Our staples now.

00:54:47 Colleen

00:55:53 Seth

Hopefully guys don't get too triggered and if you guys get triggered you put don't listen to somebody.

00:55:57 Seth

Fashions right?

00:55:59 Colleen

But I'm so happy 'cause these things keep rolling in and we're just going to keep sprinkling them in here and there.

00:56:02 Seth

You don't stop.

00:56:05 Seth

They just not stopping.

00:56:06 Colleen

And some some are more risque than others.

00:56:08 Colleen

Some are more like than others.

00:56:10 Colleen

But you know, some of them are cute.

00:56:12 Colleen

I don't care what you got.

00:56:13 Colleen

If you got something, send it to us.

00:56:15 Colleen

We love it.

00:56:15 Seth

Some of these things are, yeah, what do I say that humdinger?

00:56:21

Oh yeah.

00:56:22 Seth

All right?

00:56:22 Colleen

Well, that's a hunting.

00:56:24 Seth

Alright, so I got one.

00:56:26 Seth

I got one and again this is just picked out of our little grab bag.

00:56:28 Seth

We just picked these listeners.

00:56:30 Seth

We just pick ones that we just think would be good.

00:56:33 Seth

We always pick one humdinger and one like friendly one or a fun one just because and funny.

00:56:39 Seth

I mean, they're all funny.

00:56:40 Seth

There's some serious ones, but this one is this one is kind of a humdinger.

00:56:45 Seth

It's kind of hilarious because this kind of hits me close to home too, which is.

00:56:49 Colleen

'cause it's kinda bored.

00:56:51

I'm can't wait.

00:56:51 Colleen

To hear this, go ahead.

00:56:52 Seth

Oh, you know this story, but anyway you don't know this confession, but all right?

00:56:57 Seth

So here goes.

00:56:57 Seth

This one.

00:56:58 Seth

This one is called.

00:57:00 Seth

So embarrassing.

00:57:02 Colleen

OK, I'm ready.

00:57:03 Seth

Are you ready?

00:57:05 Seth

Alright, I just had a really embarrassing moment.

00:57:08 Seth

I was at the gym and I was using the machine where you pushed the weighted board with your feet to exercise your legs.

00:57:14 Colleen

I know, let's see where this is going.

00:57:15 Seth

Oh Jesus, here we go.

00:57:17 Seth

While I was doing it, this really good looking guy came over and asked if he could use the machine next to me, social distancing and all.

00:57:24 Seth

That I said I was fine.

00:57:25 Seth

I said it was fine with me and he smiled at me.

00:57:28 Seth

Then, about a minute later, when I pushed up the weight on my legs, I accidentally let out a huge loud fart.

00:57:34 Colleen

It's God.

00:57:36 Seth

I was so embarrassed.

00:57:38 Seth

I know the guy heard it even though he didn't say anything to bring attention to it.

00:57:42 Seth

It would have been impossible not to hear it and he was wearing headphones.

00:57:47 Seth

The end.

00:57:49 Colleen

And in the gym, and probably like the sound reverberated through.

00:57:52 Colleen

The whole empty gourd.

00:57:53 Seth

Right, especially if you're like one of those, like gold, gyms, or maybe like a planet.

00:57:56 Colleen

Oh geez, yes.

00:57:57 Seth

Fitness has like the high ceilings.

00:58:02 Colleen

Oh man.

00:58:03 Colleen

I feel really.

00:58:05 Colleen

Bad for this chick dude.

00:58:06 Seth

Man OK, well you know what?

00:58:08 Colleen

Chick, you said that you did this.

00:58:11 Seth

I don't want to get into it.

00:58:13 Seth

It's not my game.

00:58:13 Colleen

You said you said I did.

00:58:16 Colleen

You said I knew this story I.

00:58:18 Colleen

Don't know this story.

00:58:18 Seth

I think I told you maybe not it didn't happen to.

00:58:21 Seth

Me, but I was there so.

00:58:23 Colleen

OK.

00:58:23 Seth

So do you want to?

00:58:24 Seth

Go into it I.

00:58:25 Colleen

You can tell me.

00:58:25 Seth

Could alright so.

00:58:27 Colleen

You don't have to.

00:58:27 Colleen

If it's somebody you know you don't call.

00:58:29 Colleen

Him out, they don't say their.

00:58:29 Seth

Name oh I'm gonna call him out.

00:58:31 Seth

His name is Sid Billops.

00:58:34 Seth

I will call him out and say if you're listening to this, you will remember this, so something similar to this happened, right?

00:58:39 Colleen

Oh man.

00:58:41 Seth

To me.

00:58:43 Seth

We're at the gym.

00:58:45 Colleen

Similar he should have had.

00:58:45 Seth

Something something similar, right?

00:58:48 Seth

So me and him are working out, so we're working out and we're just doing like we're doing like abs and stuff, right?

00:58:57 Seth

So you go in the machine where it starts off your twisted in one position and you just you just go like that, right, right so?

00:59:01 Colleen

Uh-huh yeah yeah.

00:59:05 Seth

We're just we're.

00:59:05 Colleen

Left to right.

00:59:06 Seth

Yeah, we're going left or right, we're just.

00:59:08 Seth

Working in right?

00:59:08 Seth

So there's one guy.

00:59:10 Seth

He's in a machine.

00:59:11 Seth

I forgot the machine it could have.

00:59:12 Seth

And like some lay down machine where you're doing a leg lift or something like that, right?

00:59:16 Seth

So this guy is like not that far like I'm talking like, probably under 5 feet away from us, right?

00:59:21 Colleen

OK.

00:59:21 Seth

So we're going, so I go.

00:59:23 Seth

He goes right?

00:59:23 Seth

So he's doing it right and he goes.

00:59:25 Seth

He goes all right, like all right one.

00:59:27 Seth

So we at this this is like our third like round of this probably.

00:59:31 Seth

So we we up in the weight, right?

00:59:32 Seth

So he's like.

00:59:33 Seth

So like count it out, you know we're counting out alright mate wine too.

00:59:44 Seth

And so when he does that, he lets out the fart.

00:59:47 Seth

And then he just stops.

00:59:50 Colleen

Frozen in time.

00:59:51 Seth

He's frozen in time.

00:59:52 Seth

I'm just sitting there looking.

00:59:54

I mean eyes get big.

00:59:57

If I skip it.

00:59:57 Seth

Who doesn't look at each other and he's still like like?

01:00:01 Seth

In the position like.

01:00:02 Seth

He's still like, uh.

01:00:02 Seth

Holding it right with it right and.

01:00:03

Rocking eyes

01:00:05 Seth

Then he just goes back slowly to the regular physician.

01:00:12 Seth

And his ask was like facing right towards the other dudes.

01:00:16 Seth

I was like man just do math and smell this **** but it's like it's so funny.

01:00:19 Colleen

Oh no.

01:00:21 Seth

'cause like count is 5?

01:00:29 Seth

I I don't know what I said.

01:00:31 Seth

I probably felt like man.

01:00:32 Seth

You nasty mom ********.

01:00:33 Colleen

What did you say?

01:00:35 Colleen

You're just as nasty, but someone doesn't like.

01:00:41 Seth

So anyway, so thank you for sending this in listener, because this happens to us all and and you know what the guy probably heard it, but you're probably pretty cute anyway, so it's like, you know, if I just play it off and like it's all cool and all that, maybe I'll get a chance to maybe talk to her some next time.

01:00:58 Seth

And then you know we can just be doing squats and farting together so.

01:01:03 Seth

It might be, it might be a good thing, or he might be like look, I'm not going anywhere near this girl.

01:01:07 Seth

She be lifting too much weight 'cause he's straining, straining herself.

01:01:09 Colleen

Yeah, maybe.

01:01:12 Seth

So yeah, so that was our humdinger that was hilarious, actually.

01:01:16 Seth

So said I love your brother and if you want to curse me later on, go right ahead.

01:01:21 Seth

I want to hear about it.

01:01:23 Seth

Add it in Candy Club for point your card.

01:01:25 Seth

I love it yeah.

01:01:26 Colleen

You can call him out, please.

01:01:28 Seth

Oh, trust me, I've done so many embarrassing things in my life.

01:01:31 Seth

People have stories about me.

01:01:32 Seth

They have a whole podcast about sets of life and how many times he's embarrassed himself in front of people.

01:01:37 Seth

Yeah, whole podcast weekly.

01:01:40 Seth

Yeah exactly.

01:01:42 Seth

Alright so good alright so.

01:01:43 Seth

That's one we have one more to do.

01:01:45 Seth

Do you want to?

01:01:46 Seth

Do this one.

01:01:46 Seth

Sure I will read this one.

01:01:48 Seth

Alright, you see, you always make me do the humdingers you're always so like scared somebody.

01:01:54 Colleen

I'm not scared, I feel like.

01:01:55 Colleen

I mean, who knows what this one?

01:01:56 Seth

You think I narrate better?

01:01:57 Colleen

Who knows what this one may turn out to be?

01:01:59 Seth

Oh yeah, I know.

01:02:00 Seth

Well, you said some pretty messed up ones too, but sometimes I I get the ones that are just like what the hell?

01:02:02 Colleen

Yes, have.

01:02:07 Seth

Well, I think you make me do.

01:02:07 Colleen

I think I think.

01:02:08 Seth

It because you probably get more.

01:02:08 Colleen

I throw you the the ones that have to do with like poops and farts.

01:02:14 Seth

Exactly, you just get too embarrassed you can't read these crazy ones.

01:02:18 Seth

You can't read somebody something.

01:02:18 Colleen

Anything that's good pennies, some like stuff and deal with that.

01:02:22 Seth

I'm not talking about that.

01:02:29 Seth

That is all you bro.

01:02:34 Seth

That sounds like you 100% alright. So so when we got read another one we got a good one.

01:02:40 Colleen

Yes, so this one is called a teenage nightmare.

01:02:44 Seth

A teenage nightmare, a teen teenage nightmare.

01:02:45 Colleen

Nightmare network exactly.

01:02:49 Seth

Don't scare me again, don't don't don't scare me again.

01:02:54 Seth

All right, all right.

01:02:56 Seth

Read it baby.

01:02:57 Colleen

When I was a teenager, I'm pretty sure my dad heard me moaning during sex.

01:03:03 Colleen

So one day my dad told me he was going to be out for about an hour.

01:03:08 Colleen

Me and my boyfriend decided to have sexy time.

01:03:10 Colleen

Whilst he was out.

01:03:12 Colleen

My bedroom was on the top floor of the house furthest away from the front door.

01:03:16 Colleen

We had music playing, probably Jodeci or something cliche like that, so there was no way I would have heard him come in.

01:03:24 Colleen

Anyway, we were doing our thing and we finished and everything.

01:03:28 Colleen

And then I heard moving about downstairs I popped.

01:03:32 Colleen

Up and looked outside my window and my dad's car was back.

01:03:37 Colleen

I started to panic because I had no idea how long he'd been back for look.

01:03:42 Colleen

We were really, really loud.

01:03:44 Colleen

So I knew my dad must have heard something.

01:03:46 Colleen

Because of this, I had to think of another reason as to what those noises were.

01:03:51 Colleen

So I came up with what I thought was a genius plan.

01:03:55 Colleen

We quickly got dressed and I started to pretend to be wailing and crying and mid panic attack after hurting my ankle airquotes hurting my ankle to make it seem like we weren't having loud sex.

01:04:08 Seth

Oh my God.

01:04:09 Colleen

I even went to the extent of bashing my ankle with a metal bottle in order to make it look hurt.

01:04:15 Seth

Oh my God the.

01:04:17 Colleen

Anyway, my dad came up after a while of this show and asked if I was OK.

01:04:24 Colleen

I explained my fake story while still wailing and crying and I think he may have bought it.

01:04:29 Colleen

I definitely put my acting skills to work that afternoon, although as an adult now with children on my own, there's really not much they can get past me so.

01:04:37 Colleen

There's a chance he did know I was faking and just pretended not to know I had been having sex. I'd say it's about 5050.

01:04:45 Colleen

It does still haunt me from time to time and for a long time I couldn't even look him in.

01:04:49 Colleen

The eyes, yeah.

01:04:51 Colleen

What are you?

01:04:51 Colleen

Going to do the end Finn.

01:04:55 Seth

OK, so first.

01:04:57 Colleen

And I I have to say real quick.

01:04:59 Colleen

I'm not going to call anybody out like you, but we do have a mutual friend that has had something similar happen.

01:05:05 Colleen

And that's all I'm going to say, and if this person wants to send a confession in, they can.

01:05:11 Seth

OK.

01:05:12 Seth

OK, I don't mind calling people.

01:05:14 Seth

I mean look, it's just a fart in the gym.

01:05:15 Seth

It happens.

01:05:16 Seth

All the.

01:05:16 Seth

Freaking time yeah, just.

01:05:16

Just, uh, fought in a gym so.

01:05:18 Seth

It happens whatever.

01:05:19 Seth

But yeah, Brad.

01:05:20 Seth

It's whatever.

01:05:21 Seth

I've never been to yoga, but I imagine just probably farts all over that joint.

01:05:25 Colleen

That's true, I have heard.

01:05:26 Colleen

The yes women doing that, Yep.

01:05:28 Seth

Yeah, so it probably comes out of.

01:05:30 Seth

Both areas let's just leave that alone.

01:05:33 Seth

OK, so let's talk about this rider here.

01:05:34

Say also.

01:05:36 Seth

Yeah, so.

01:05:38 Seth

It's actually pretty good you went along with this.

01:05:40 Seth

You actually, as long as you committed you know you went full ****** on it.

01:05:43 Seth

So that's nice.

01:05:44 Seth

Right you went full ******.

01:05:46 Seth

You just you gotta commit to the lie and more than likely he knew what was going on and just said, yeah, that's super awkward, but big up to your dad because look that was in my house first.

01:05:51 Seth

Yeah, that's awkward.

01:05:58 Seth

Well, I can't even say if there's no way that was ever going to happen in my house when I was growing up.

01:06:03 Seth

There's none of this.

01:06:05 Seth

Boyfriend girlfriend coming over.

01:06:05 Colleen

I'll leave you alone.

01:06:07 Seth

Yeah, leave you guys alone and blah blah blah.

01:06:09 Seth

I mean yeah I have.

01:06:10 Seth

I've been in houses where you can be dating someone and then you are upstairs in the room.

01:06:15 Seth

But none of this we're going to hook up while my parents are downstairs.

01:06:18 Seth

I'm not playing that game so big up to your pops man pop.

01:06:22 Seth

This product was like, alright well, I'm just having sex now.

01:06:24 Seth

You know, the guys he.

01:06:25 Seth

He's a nice guy, so you know I let him clap a couple of times.

01:06:28 Seth

Just make sure he don't disrespect her.

01:06:30

Oh God.

01:06:32

That just does the.

01:06:33 Colleen

Whole thing seems pretty awkward, 'cause I can't imagine being the parent and hearing and just being like Oh no, especially a dad for a daughter.

01:06:35 Seth

It sounds awkward.

01:06:40 Colleen

Yeah, I I don't mean I don't.

01:06:41 Colleen

I don't know and I because I don't know.

01:06:43 Colleen

I never had a relationship with a father figure like that, so I don't know.

01:06:46 Colleen

But I can imagine that it would be really awkward and uncomfortable.

01:06:48 Seth

I would be I would be feeling you know if I was a dad, I'd probably just leave.

01:06:53 Seth

I'm like, you know, I'm not hearing this right now.

01:06:57 Seth

I'm not here, I'm gonna go I'm gonna go to the store and buy me a 40 or something and I'll come back.

01:06:58 Colleen

Your mulch.

01:07:01 Seth

Hopefully this shifts over 'cause I can't handle this right now in my life.

01:07:05 Seth

That's how I would be if I or I would say what y'all doing on there.

01:07:08 Seth

What y'all doing on there?

01:07:09 Colleen

Huh, exactly I do.

01:07:12 Seth

Girl come downstairs, put your clothes on brands out there.

01:07:13

Ricky West dances.

01:07:15 Seth

I told you no boys in the house and now I hear all this banging and stuff going on.

01:07:20 Seth

What's going on up there?

01:07:21 Seth

Nothing Daddy, I mean.

01:07:23 Colleen

I feel like.

01:07:24 Colleen

He set her up anyway because he's like.

01:07:26 Colleen

OK daughter, I'll be leaving for one hour so you know what I mean.

01:07:30 Seth

Yeah, right, right right.

01:07:31 Colleen

Like pretty much setting them up to do what they're going to do.

01:07:34 Seth

Well, I can appreciate someone sharing this because, you know, we all had parents or at least people that that we looked up to.

01:07:41 Seth

You know, didn't have to be biological right?

01:07:43 Seth

And you always wanted to not get in trouble, so we've all done these things.

01:07:47 Seth

So this hits home on a lot of different things because you just don't want to get in trouble.

01:07:51 Seth

So you will go through.

01:07:52 Seth

Through lengths and you know it's funny.

01:07:53 Seth

A lot of these confessions that come in that we read are surrounding things like this.

01:07:59 Seth

You go through great lengths just not to get in trouble.

01:08:02 Seth

You know, like the one that you told, or I told I can't remember it was couple season not seasons but episodes ago where the person broke the glass table and.

01:08:12 Seth

And did all this and played at all so they wouldn't get in trouble.

01:08:15 Seth

You know, just crazy stuff like that.

01:08:16 Seth

She just admitted it.

01:08:17 Seth

And it just.

01:08:17 Seth

Is what it.

01:08:18 Seth

Is so anyway, what's up?

01:08:19 Colleen

Yeah, I do have a question for you though.

01:08:21 Colleen

Have you ever heard somebody having sex that you didn't want to?

01:08:25 Colleen

Be hearing having sex.

01:08:27 Seth

Ah, let me think.

01:08:29 Seth

I don't think so really.

01:08:30 Colleen

You're so lucky.

01:08:31 Seth

No, I don't think I've ever 'cause I've always been like damn man he's lucky I'm like I'm over here out here just watching TV and he over there smashing it's messed up.

01:08:43 Colleen

Well, I have definitely heard some things that I really, really, really wish I had not heard.

01:08:44 Seth

I've not been that situation.

01:08:50 Colleen

I've heard a lot of no no macaroni time that I just.

01:08:53 Seth

It is.

01:08:53 Colleen

Cannot erase from.

01:08:55 Colleen

My head and I'm like, oh.

01:08:57 Seth

No, I've been in some.

01:08:58 Seth

We don't need to go there, but I've been in some awkward sex situations and the person not having sex and I'm just like looking, not not looking, listening and like yeah, so it's nothing me.

01:09:10 Seth

It had never been anything like, oh, I don't want to hear this stuff.

01:09:12 Colleen

Now it depends on the person.

01:09:14 Colleen

Is my point?

01:09:15 Colleen

Like there's some people like?

01:09:15 Colleen

Yeah, whatever?

01:09:16 Colleen

They're doing it, but there's certain people.

01:09:18 Colleen

In your life is my point that you don't want to hear things.

01:09:20 Seth

From I mean, let's just call it out like your parents or your grandparents.

01:09:24 Colleen

Yes, certain family members exactly.

01:09:25 Seth

Yeah, certain friends like I don't want it.

01:09:26 Seth

No I would.

01:09:28 Seth

I throw myself out of a window probably.

01:09:31 Seth

Just so I don't have to hear the noise again.

01:09:33 Seth

Exactly no more macaroni salad just tossed myself out the window.

01:09:39 Seth

Oh I left right.

01:09:39

Roll your body.

01:09:40

Through the glass.

01:09:41 Seth

It's like.

01:09:42 Seth

I'll let myself out.

01:09:46 Seth

Don't mind me guys, I'll go ahead and let.

01:09:46

It's good.

01:09:48 Seth

Myself out through.

01:09:54 Seth

All right, so that's a good ending to this one. This is the good ones superstitions. Now I'm going to go out and try to find myself a little lucky rabbit's foot and see if I can find a nice little Talisman. I might mail you one too, baby.

01:09:56 Seth

Yes, yes.

01:10:05 Colleen

OK, OK, and we can always go to Crystal Fox and find lots of.

01:10:05 Seth

You know just to you know it's.

01:10:09 Colleen

Talismans to choose from.

01:10:09 Seth

Yeah, I'm sort of planning in there.

01:10:12 Colleen

And when we open up our.

01:10:13 Colleen

Hip hop apothecary.

01:10:14 Colleen

We'll have a little area.

01:10:16 Colleen

01:10:19 Seth

01:11:23 Seth

OK.

01:11:23

When you believe.

01:11:25 Colleen

01:11:30 Colleen

Superstition and the way.

01:11:32 Seth

There you go girl you're right now I wonder what he would say about the farts in the gym.

01:11:38 Colleen

He'd say.

When you believe.

01:11:43 Colleen

The whole time, it's just just the whole front.

01:12:44 Seth

He's just really trying to get into the music industry.

01:12:46 Seth

He said, you know, I just got out.

01:12:47 Seth

Just gotta commit to this.

01:12:49 Seth

The rest of my life.

01:12:50

Is terrible.

01:12:53 Seth

Oh man, I mean, he already committed to those those dreads for way longer than he needs to.

01:12:57 Colleen

That's true, yeah, they they start in the back of the like the hospital Ridge at this point.

01:12:58 Seth

Be he done committed those things.

01:13:03

Right?

01:13:05 Seth

He made Coolio look like like buckwheat.

01:13:11 Seth

How daddy?

01:13:11 Seth

Right?

01:13:12 Seth

What I'm saying, 'cause Coolio been trying to hold on to those those two little dookie braids in the front of his stuff for about about 20 years.

01:13:19 Seth

Too goodnight and Stevie.

01:13:21 Seth

He got his dread start in the back of his neck.

01:13:25 Colleen

But we love him, he's amazing.

01:13:27 Seth

We love him too.

01:13:28 Seth

I know whether I don't care if he can see or not.

01:13:30 Seth

I mean it's whatever man.

01:13:31 Seth

Still puts out good music.

01:13:33 Seth

Very superstitious.

01:13:37 Seth

I'll play that song now, right right behind.

01:13:39 Colleen

Do it.

01:13:41 Colleen

How way the hell?

01:13:45 Seth

So anyway, all right, let's go home.

01:13:45

All right?

01:13:46 Colleen

Guess what bye bye?

01:13:48 Seth

Bye bye.

01:13:52 Seth

All right, so another podcast is in the.

01:13:54 Seth

Big books in the.

01:13:55 Seth

Books right?

01:13:56 Seth

That was that was relatively harmless.

01:14:07 Colleen

Good job Weiner.

01:14:07 Seth

You're right, yeah, good job, Wiener goja Wiener.

01:14:16 Colleen

Never believe it's not so.

01:14:20 Colleen

That's that.
